Objective: The Candidate Physical Capability Test (CPAT) has been used in many countries to assess the fitness levels of firefighters, but it requires a special facility with a space of at least 900 square m 2 and expensive equipment. Because it can be difficult to have both money and space at smaller gas stations, we have developed the Korean Firefighter Performance Battery (KFPB).

Methods: To verify the validity and reliability of the developed KFPB, this study consists of three parts, a validation test, reliability test, and evaluation criterion.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the impact of different firefighting shift systems on exercise training participation among South Korean firefighters, specifically focusing on the three circuit system which requires 24-hour work shifts.
  • - Results indicated that firefighters on the three circuit system engage in exercise training less frequently compared to those on the 21 circuit system, with this trend being more pronounced in larger cities.
  • - The findings suggest that the three circuit system is currently ineffective, and recommend creating a more suitable environment to support its implementation in South Korea.

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a major safety concern during drug development and remains one of the main reasons for withdrawal of drugs from the market. Although it is crucial to develop methods that will detect potential hepatotoxicity of drug candidates as early and as quickly as possible, there is still a lack of sensitive and specific biomarkers for DILI that consequently leads to a scarcity of reliable hepatotoxic data. Hence, in this study, we assessed characteristic molecular signatures in rat liver treated with drugs (pyrazinamide, ranitidine, enalapril, carbamazepine and chlorpromazine) that are known to cause DILI in humans.
