The fecal microbiome is identical to the gut microbial communities and provides an easy access to the gut microbiome. Therefore, fecal microbial transplantation (FMT) strategies have been used to alter dysbiotic gut microbiomes with healthy fecal microbiota, successfully alleviating various metabolic disorders, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, the success of FMT treatment is donor-dependent and variations in gut microbes cannot be avoided.

In this study, dextran-sodium-sulfate-induced microbial dysbiosis index (DiMDI) was introduced as a reliable dysbiosis index that can be used to assess the state of microbial dysbiosis in DSS-induced mouse models. Meta-analysis of 189 datasets from 11 independent studies was performed to construct the DiMDI.

Because it shares certain commonalities with this dietary intervention, Ramadan fasting is sometimes misinterpreted as intermittent fasting, even though there are clear distinctions between these two regimens. The main purpose of this study is to verify whether Ramadan fasting drives the same beneficial effects as intermittent fasting by monitoring alterations in the gut microbiota.

Most butyrate producers belong to the Clostridium cluster of the phylum Firmicutes, such as , , , , , , and . They metabolize carbohydrates the butyryl-CoA: acetate CoA-transferase pathway and butyrate kinase terminal enzymes to produce most of butyrate.

Such studies involve gastrointestinal digestion and colonic fermentation of dietary substances. In colonic fermentation, any digested food is further metabolized in the gut by the residing colonic microbiota, causing a shift in the gut microenvironment and production of various metabolites, such as short-chain fatty acids.

Here, we investigated whether changes in the modifiable lifestyle factors, such as cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, sleep duration, physical exercise, and body mass index affected the gut microbiota of Korean navy trainees. The navy trainees were instructed to stop smoking and alcohol consumption and follow a sleep schedule and physical exercise regime for eight weeks.

Floating-Harbor syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant disorder that presents with short stature, facial dysmorphism, significantly delayed bone age, skeletal abnormalities, speech and language problems, and intellectual disabilities. Although short stature is one of the main clinical manifestations, use of growth hormone therapy in Floating-Harbor syndrome patients has been limited. Only a few reports have investigated the response to growth hormone therapy with regard to final adult height.

Five different A356+%Mn alloys were prepared by casting in molds of different thicknesses followed by solid solution treatment at 813 K for 195 min and aging treatment at 423 K for 120 min. It was confirmed that the secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS) increased with increasing thickness of the cast sample, whilst, for a given thickness, the addition of small amounts of Mn resulted in a decrease of the SDAS.

However, questions are raised about its functions and reliability in liquid samples. Consequently, real-life clinical applications are few in number.
