Background/aims: Chronic hepatitis C is a major risk factor for liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and hepatic failure. Although traditional practices, including acupuncture, tend to increase the risk of HCV infection, the association remains controversial. Therefore, the current meta-analytical study was undertaken to evaluate the risks of acupuncture and hepatitis C transmission.

However, an artificial neuron and synapse based on complex complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) circuits limit the scalability and energy efficiency of neuromorphic hardware. In this work, a neuromorphic module is demonstrated composed of synapses over neurons realized by monolithic vertical integration.

In spring 2020, a decrease in the intensity of phytoplankton bloom was observed. While one study attributed this decline to a decrease in nutrient associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, our previous research proposed weakened thermal stratification accompanied by a surface cooling anomaly as the cause.

Design: A cross-sectional comparative correlational study.
Methods: Nursing students (n = 358) from a metropolitan area of South Korea were recruited for an online survey.
Background: Although various coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines have been delivered to the public worldwide, data on cancer populations are limited. Vaccine hesitancy related to safety concerns is observed among cancer patients. We report the perception of COVID-19 vaccines and their safety profile after vaccination among cancer patients.

The exosomal RNA expression profiles of 54 patients with mCRC were investigated. Exosomal RNA profiling was performed at the time of relapse immediately before metastasectomy and cancer recurrence or progression after metastasectomy.

Methods: We included 87 patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia and a t(15;17) or promyelocytic leukemia/retinoic acid receptor alpha (PML-RARα) mutation. Patients received 12 mg/m2/day idarubicin intravenously for 3 days and 100 mg/m2/day cytarabine for 7 days, plus 45 mg/m2/day ATRA.
Purpose: First-line choice of therapy is critical as it affects treatment decisions in later lines in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). We assessed changes in renal function for 1 year among patients diagnosed with mCRC who received first-line chemotherapy. We aimed to analyze the prognostic factors and effect of each chemotherapy regimen on the renal function of the patients.

Methods: The participants were members of community-based mental health facilities and had been working as peer supporters for more than six months. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with twelve participants and analyzed using Corbin and Strauss's grounded theory approach.
Background: Although many studies have described an increased risk of necrotizing enterocolitis in duct dependent congenital heart diseases, very few have investigated its occurrence in full-term infants with duct dependent congenital heart diseases.
Methods: To evaluate the characteristics and risk factors of necrotizing enterocolitis, we performed a retrospective review of 355 full-term infants with duct dependent congenital heart diseases who received prostaglandin E therapy from April 2000 to May 2020.
Results: Necrotizing enterocolitis was observed in 10 patients (3.
Purpose: Perioperative blood transfusion in early stage cancer patients had a negative effect on the prognosis of patients, but the prognostic impact of transfusion in advanced cancer patients remains unclear. To minimize and guide rational transfusion, an institutional patient blood management (PBM) program was launched, and we evaluated the new program that has changed the practice and impacted on the prognosis of advanced cancer patients.
Methods: We investigated the medical records of colorectal cancer patients who received chemotherapy from 2015 to 2020.
Background: Student academic incivility is a serious problem in nursing education because it negatively influences the learning process, wellbeing of faculty members, and faculty-student relationships. The aim of this study was to explore nursing faculty experiences related to student incivility in nursing education.
Methods: We used an exploratory qualitative methodology and conducted in-depth interviews with 14 nursing faculty members working at 11 nursing universities in South Korea.
Compared to ocular adnexal lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-type (OAML) patients with symptoms related invasion beyond the ocular adnexa, the different approaches to staging assessment may be required in OAML patients with symptoms limited to the ocular adnexa. Seventy-six patients to be diagnosed with OAML and performed bone marrow biopsy and imaging study at Yeungnam University Hospital in 1995-2014 were enrolled. Patients with symptoms limited to the ocular adnexa were included.

Purpose: Chronic urticaria (CU) can reduce the quality of life of children and their parents, but there are only a few studies on the course of CU in children. This study aimed to investigate the natural course of CU in children and identify the factors that influence its prognosis.
Methods: We evaluated 77 children diagnosed with CU, who were monitored for at least 48 months.
Recently, technology utilizing ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors for robot localization in an indoor environment where the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) cannot be used has begun to be actively studied. UWB-based positioning has the advantage of being able to work even in an environment lacking feature points, which is a limitation of positioning using existing vision- or LiDAR-based sensing. However, UWB-based positioning requires the pre-installation of UWB anchors and the precise location of coordinates.

Due to the biochemical importance of cholesterol homeostasis in cardiovascular disease (CVD), this study was aimed to identify metabolic signatures of serum sterols according to atherosclerotic CVD severity. Biogically active free cholesterol and its 11 analogues in serum samples obtained from subjects who underwent cardiovascular intervention were quantitatively evaluated by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCMS). Study groups were divided by 29 patients with stable angina (SA), 35 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and 41 controls.
