BackgroundBenign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common peripheral vestibular disorder, and its prevalence is substantial. While primary BPPV has been well studied, the understanding of secondary BPPV is still limited.ObjectiveTo investigate the prevalence and clinical characteristics of secondary BPPV in a national multicenter retrospective analysis.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of growth stimulation by creating a metaphyseal hole in a rabbit model, based on its distance from the physis and type of interposition material.
Methods: In Experiment 1, 38 skeletally immature male New Zealand white rabbits were randomized into one of four groups: a metaphyseal hole created at 5, 10, or 15 mm distal to the physis of the left proximal tibia with the hole filled with bone wax, or a sham control group.
Background/objectives: Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) is commonly performed in elderly patients and often requires repeated procedures. A high proportion of non-procedural time in TURBT affects operating room utilization, highlighting the need for a safe and efficient anesthesia method. This study aimed to compare remimazolam-based monitored anesthesia care (MAC) guided by analgesia nociception index (ANI) monitoring to inhalation-based general anesthesia (GA) for TURBT, focusing on induction and emergence time (IAET).

Methods: We performed spatial transcriptomic profiling using formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded kidney biopsy specimens of controls and patients with five types of glomerular diseases using the GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler.
Hot carriers, generated through nonadiabatic energy dissipation during exothermic catalytic reactions, play a pivotal role in enhancing catalytic performance. Upon generation, hot electrons typically reside in the sp-band above the Fermi level, while hot holes are formed in the -band below the Fermi level, following the energy distribution of the metal's electronic structure. However, it has been technically challenging to simultaneously capture and understand the flow of these two opposite charges during chemical reactions.

Typical clinical features include fever, thrombocytopenia, and lymphadenopathy. However, we encountered a case of SFTS in a 60-year-old male who initially did not exhibit these hallmark symptoms.

Methods: Utilizing South Korea's National Health Insurance Sharing Service (NHISS) database, we conducted a gender-age-matched analysis comparing depression risk between tuberculosis survivors and the general population.
Purpose: We used data from the IPF-PRO Registry of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) to identify characteristics that predicted survival for a further > 5 years.
Methods: Participants had IPF that was diagnosed or confirmed at the enrolling center in the previous 6 months. Patients were followed prospectively.
In the last 2 decades, there has been a noticeable increase in the incidence of neuroendocrine tumors, in part due to improved understanding of pathology and/or availability of more sensitive and accurate diagnostic tests. While gastrointestinal tract and pancreas are the most common sites of origin, lung neuroendocrine tumors (LNETs) are also frequently reported and need special considerations from diagnostic as well as therapeutic aspects. Radiopharmaceutical therapy (Theranostics) is a novel approach which utilizes a pair of diagnostic and therapeutic agents that share a common target on tumor sites.

However, most high-performance photocatalysts possess bandgaps exceeding ∼3.0 eV, limiting their photocatalytic efficiency under visible light.

Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of participants (n = 1992) in the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) Patient Registry.
Liver fibrosis is characterized by an excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix components, leading to the distortion of liver architecture and function. Recent studies have shown that antagonizing 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 2B (5HT) stimulates the apoptosis of activated hepatic stellate cells and inhibits their proliferation while concurrently regressing hepatocyte proliferation. In this study, we present compound , which demonstrates promising efficacy both and .

Herein, we propose a neuromorphic device with human brain-inspired biomimetic functionality utilizing naturally sourced mucin as the active layer material. The mucin-based neuromorphic memristor (MNM) array successfully mimics key synaptic behaviors uniformly, including a paired-pulse facilitation index of 122.

The calf stage is critical, as thermal stress during this period can have lasting effects on productivity. This study examined the impact of weather conditions on calf growth, carcass traits, and their interrelationships in Korean native Hanwoo steers.

Methods: Eight Hanwoo steers (average body weight, 393 kg) were allocated to two groups and fed with a high RUP:RDP ratio (46.9:53.
We sought to compare the diagnostic efficacy of a 72-hour wearable electrocardiography (ECG) patch monitoring with a conventional 24-hour Holter monitoring for the detection of cardiogenic vertigo. We conducted a prospective multicenter study that recruited 47 patients suspected of cardiogenic vertigo in four referral-based university hospitals between November 2019 and April 2022. Patients received simultaneous ambulatory ECG recordings using a 72-hour wearable ECG patch monitoring and a conventional 24-hour Holter monitor.

Background: The DECO-MOM mobile program was developed to enhance prenatal environmental health behaviors among pregnant women, addressing the challenges of climate change and environmental pollution. This pilot study aimed to assess the feasibility and preliminary impacts of the DECO-MOM app on personal and community health behaviors, quality of life, subjective health status, depression, anxiety, and e-learning satisfaction, guided by the revised protection motivation theory.
Methods/design: This non-randomized controlled study employed a pre-post-test design with experimental and control groups.
With the help of rumen bacteria, ruminants can feed on indigestible plant materials and produce over 70% of their energy as fatty acids. However, during lactation, ruminants exhibit characteristics of monogastric animals due to an undeveloped rumen; therefore, understanding gut microbiome changes in growing calves is essential. Our understanding of the gut microbiome in growing calves remains limited in large populations with the same diet, breed, and period.

To enhance the transfection efficacy of IVT mRNA-loaded polyplexes, we exposed NK cells to a hypertonic condition during transfection, which facilitated endo/exocytosis to maintain the isotonic state of the cells. The transfection efficacy of IVT mRNA was significantly enhanced after 24 h, which was mainly due to the facilitated cellular uptake and endosomal escape of the polyplexes.

GBM often recurs locally near the resection cavity (RC) following the surgical removal of primary tumors. Recent research has reported that neural stem cells (NSCs) in the subventricular zone (SVZ) harboring cancer-driving mutations serve as the cells of origin for human GBM.

Lipid-based nanoparticles have emerged as promising drug delivery systems for a wide range of therapeutic agents, including plasmids, mRNA, and proteins. However, these nanoparticles still encounter various challenges in drug delivery, including drug leakage, poor solubility, and inadequate target specificity. In this comprehensive review, we present an in-depth investigation of four distinct drug delivery methods: liposomes, lipid nanoparticle formulations, solid lipid nanoparticles, and nanoemulsions.
