Electrocardiogram (ECG) changes after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients are associated with prognosis. This study investigated the feasibility of predicting left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in STEMI patients using an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled ECG algorithm developed to diagnose STEMI. Serial ECGs from 637 STEMI patients were analyzed with the AI algorithm, which quantified the probability of STEMI at various time points.

Objectives: We sought to compare thrombotic profiles of EA and W patients with myocardial infarction (MI) and relate these to cardiovascular outcomes.
Background: While conventional electrocardiogram monitoring devices are useful for detecting atrial fibrillation, they have considerable drawbacks, including a short monitoring duration and invasive device implantation. The use of patch-type devices circumvents these drawbacks and has shown comparable diagnostic capability for the early detection of atrial fibrillation.
Objective: We aimed to determine whether a patch-type device (AT-Patch) applied to patients with a high risk of new-onset atrial fibrillation defined by the congestive heart failure, hypertension, age ≥75 years, diabetes mellitus, stroke, vascular disease, age 65-74 years, sex scale (CHADS-VASc) score had increased detection rates.
Background: Although iron deficiency (ID) is an important and treatable risk factor for heart failure (HF), data on ID are scarce in Asian patients with HF. Therefore, we sought to determine the prevalence and clinical characteristics of ID in hospitalized Korean patients with HF.
Methods: In this prospective, multicenter cohort study, 461 patients with acute HF seen at five tertiary centers from January to November 2019 in Korea were enrolled.
Background: High C-reactive protein (CRP) levels are associated with poor outcomes of heart failure (HF), and statins are known to reduce CRP levels. We investigated the prognostic value of CRP and statin in patients with HF with reduced and preserved ejection fraction (EF).
Methods: Altogether, 3,831 patients from the Korean Acute Heart Failure registry were included and stratified according to the tertiles of CRP levels (T1: CRP < 0.
Background: Rapid revascularization is the key to better patient outcomes in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Direct activation of cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL) using artificial intelligence (AI) interpretation of initial electrocardiography (ECG) might help reduce door-to-balloon (D2B) time. To prove that this approach is feasible and beneficial, we assessed the non-inferiority of such a process over conventional evaluation and estimated its clinical benefits, including a reduction in D2B time, medical cost, and 1-year mortality.

Methods: The National Health Insurance claims database in South Korea was the data source for this population-based cohort study. We enrolled all adult patients aged ≥18 years receiving intensive care unit ECMO support from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2018.
We investigated the prevalence of insomnia in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)-treated patients and examined the association between post-ECMO insomnia disorder and long-term mortality. In the present population-based cohort study, we used data from the National Health Insurance Claims database in South Korea. All adult patients who underwent ECMO between 2006 and 2014 were included, and ECMO-treated patients were defined as those who survived >365 days after ECMO.

However, it remains unclear whether the day of the week of ECMO initiation affects patient outcomes. We aimed to investigate whether the initiation of ECMO therapy during a weekend was associated with increased mortality risk.

We investigated the changes in the quality of life after extracorporeal membrane oxygenation among the survivors and examine the association between a worse quality of life and 3-year all-cause mortality.
Design: This was a population-based cohort study.
We aimed to investigate the incidence of limb amputation due to vascular complications related to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy among survivors and examine its association with long-term mortality in these cases. Data from the National Health Insurance Service database in South Korea were extracted for this population-based cohort study. Adult people who underwent ECMO therapy between 2005 and 2018 were included.

We aimed to describe the characteristics of patients who developed chronic respiratory disease (CRD) following ECMO therapy, and investigate the association between newly diagnosed post-ECMO CRDs and 5-year all-cause mortality among ECMO survivors.
Methods: We analyzed data from the National Health Insurance Service in South Korea.
Purpose: We aimed to investigate whether the use of cardiovascular drugs in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with hypertension as a comorbidity has a significant effect on the incidence and associated mortality rate of COVID-19.
Materials And Methods: Data covering the period between January 1, 2020 and June 4, 2020 were extracted from The National Health Insurance Service-COVID-19 (NHIS-COVID-19) database in South Korea and analyzed as a population-based cohort study.
Results: A total of 101657 hypertensive adults aged 20 years or older were included for final analysis.
Introduction: Depression is an important sequela in critically ill patients. However, its prevalence after extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy and its association with long-term mortality remain controversial.
Methods: Data were extracted from the South Korean National Health Insurance Service database in this population-based cohort study.
Introduction: This study aimed to investigate trends in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment during 2005-2018 and examine factors associated with in-hospital mortality.
Methods: We conducted a population-based cohort study based on health records obtained from the National Health Insurance Service database in South Korea. All adult patients (⩾18 years old) who received ECMO treatment in the intensive care unit after hospitalization from 2005 to 2018 were enrolled.

Objective: To investigate whether prior statin therapy is associated with an improvement in mortality among patients who undergo extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy.
Design: Retrospective, population-based, cohort study.
Setting: Health records were obtained from the National Health Insurance Service database in South Korea.
Flexible amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) solar cells with high photoconversion efficiency (PCE) are demonstrated by embedding hexagonal pyramid nanostructures below a Ag/indium tin oxide (ITO) reflector. The nanostructures constructed by nanoimprint lithography using soft materials allow the top ITO electrode to spontaneously form parabolic nanostructures. Nanoimprint lithography using soft materials is simple, and is conducted at low temperature.
