Photothermal therapy has gained great attention as an alternative candidate for radiation therapy or chemotherapy for cancers. However, photothermal agents for photothermal therapy are generally in the form of nanoparticles that are too small to remain in the target tissue, and therefore, the agents are rather quickly removed from the targeted site. Furthermore, conventional photothermal agents are generally expensive or complicated to synthesize.

Article Synopsis
  • Different dietary patterns impact gut microbiome compositions and overall diversity, which are tied to digestion, immunity, and animal productivity.
  • Nakai (SQ) is a bamboo species high in protein and fiber, yet its effects on gut microbiome and productivity in pigs were unexplored until now.
  • In an experiment, pigs given SQ extract showed changes in their gut microbiota, an increase in average daily gain, and a decrease in backfat thickness, highlighting SQ’s potential as an effective feed resource for better animal performance.

Background: Targetable molecular drivers of gastric cancer (GC) metastasis remain largely unidentified, leading to limited targeted therapy options for advanced GC. We aimed to identify molecular drivers for metastasis and devise corresponding therapeutic strategies.

Methods: We performed an unbiased in vivo genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 knockout (KO) screening in peritoneal dissemination using genetically engineered GC mouse models.

This study examined the association between functional sequence variants (FSVs) of () genotypes and collagen content in a Landrace and Jeju native pig (JNP) crossbred population. Four muscles (, , , and ) were used for the analysis of meat collagen content, and the same animals were genotyped for the FSVs of the gene by using PCR-RFLP (polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism). Three FSVs of genotypes were identified and had genotype frequencies of 0.

We report the methods increasing both strength and ductility of aluminum alloys transformed from amorphous precursor. The mechanical properties of bulk samples produced by spark-plasma sintering (SPS) of amorphous Al-Ni-Co-Dy powders at temperatures above 673 K are significantly enhanced by in-situ crystallization of nano-scale intermetallic compounds during the SPS process. The spark plasma sintered AlNiCoDy bulk specimens exhibit 1433 MPa compressive yield strength and 1773 MPa maximum strength together with 5.
