This study investigated whether the textural features of peritumoral adipose tissue (AT) on [F]fluoro-2-deoxy-2-d-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) can predict the pathological response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and progression-free survival (PFS) in breast cancer patients. We retrospectively enrolled 147 female breast cancer patients who underwent staging FDG PET/CT and completed NAC and underwent curative surgery. We extracted 10 first-order features, 6 gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) features, and 3 neighborhood gray-level difference matrix (NGLDM) features of peritumoral AT and evaluated the predictive value of those imaging features for pathological complete response (pCR) and PFS.

A Pd-catalyzed asymmetric [5 + 2] cycloaddition reaction was developed for the synthesis of N-fused 1,3-oxazepines using vinylethylene carbonates and sulfamate-derived cyclic imines. Under mild reaction conditions, a series of optically active N-fused 1,3-oxazepines were synthesized in good yields (up to 89%) and enantioselectivities (up to 90 : 10 er), indicating this method as a straightforward approach to enantiomerically enriched 1,3-oxazepine derivatives. The synthetic utility of the presented reaction was further demonstrated by the successful transformation of the resulting 1,3-oxazepines to useful polycyclic N-fused 1,3-oxazepanes.

Ovarian yolk sac tumors are common germ cell tumors usually arising in young women. Yolk sac tumors in elderly women are infrequently encountered and most of them are combined with other epithelial tumor components including endometrioid carcinoma or serous carcinoma. Here, we report an extremely rare case of a yolk sac tumor with mucinous tumor and large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma components in a postmenopausal woman, which is the third yolk sac tumor case with a neuroendocrine tumor element in an elderly woman.

Rationale: Primary repair of acute ligament injury is possible due to the proximity of the ends. In the case of chronic injury, however, primary repair is difficult because the ends of ruptured ligament will have receded, and tendon graft, transfer, or reconstruction is needed. Satisfactory clinical results have been reported after reconstruction with newly formed interposed scar tissue between the ends of the ruptured tendon in chronic Achilles tendon injury and chronic extensor halluces longus (EHL) tendon injury.

Background: SSBP2, single-stranded DNA binding protein 2, is a subunit of the ssDNA-binding complex that is involved in the maintenance of genome stability. The majority of previous studies have suggested a tumor-suppressive role of SSBP2, which is silenced by promoter hypermethylation in several human malignancies, such as hematologic malignancies, prostate cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, ovarian cancer, and gallbladder cancer.
