This research introduces a simple and effective method to enhance oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance through surface reconstruction of metal substrates via hydration. A water treatment technique is employed to form a nanometer-thick hydroxide layer on Ni foam, which significantly improved OER activity compared to pristine Ni. To further explore catalyst performance on hydrated substrates, NiFe layered double hydroxide (LDH) is deposited, resulting in NiFe LDH@hydrated Ni foam achieving superior performance and exceptional stability, maintaining 1 A cm for 1000 h.

This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the Cancer Public Library Database (CPLD), established under the Korean Clinical Data Utilization for Research Excellence project (K-CURE). The CPLD links data from four major population-based public sources: the Korea National Cancer Incidence Database in the Korea Central Cancer Registry, cause-of-death data in Statistics Korea, the National Health Information Database in the National Health Insurance Service, and the National Health Insurance Research Database in the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service. These databases are linked using an encrypted resident registration number.

The aim of this study was to compare diagnostic performance for extra-prostatic extension (EPE) and image quality among three image datasets: conventional T2-weighted images (T2WI, slice thickness, 3 mm) and high-resolution thin-slice T2WI (T2WI, 2 mm), with and without deep learning reconstruction (DLR) in patients with prostatic cancer (PCa). A total of 88 consecutive patients (28 EPE-positive and 60 negative) diagnosed with PCa via radical prostatectomy who had undergone 3T-MRI were included. Two independent reviewers performed a crossover review in three sessions, in which each reviewer recorded five-point confidence scores for the presence of EPE and image quality using a five-point Likert scale.

Background: To investigate the effect of parental social class on cancer mortality in children under 5 in Korea, two birth cohorts were constructed by linking national birth data to under-5 death data from the Statistics Korea for 1995-1999 (3,323,613 births) and 2010-2014 (2,297,876 births).

Methods: The Cox proportional hazards model adjusted for covariates was used in this study.

Results: Social inequalities of under-5 cancer mortality risk in paternal education and paternal employment status were greater in 2010-2014 than in 1995-1999.

The anti-oxidant enzyme heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) is known to exert anti-inflammatory effects. From a library of pyrazolo[3,4-]pyrimidines, we identified a novel compound KKC080096 that upregulated HO-1 at the mRNA and protein levels in microglial BV-2 cells. KKC080096 exhibited anti-inflammatory effects via suppressing nitric oxide, interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and iNOS production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-challenged cells.

The energy-efficiency loss with high overpotential during hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), as well as economic inefficiencies including high-cost materials and complicated processes, is considered the major challenge to the implementation of electrochemical water splitting applications. The authors present a new platform for electrocatalysts that functions in an unprecedented way to turn a catalyst into substrate.
