However, understanding the importance and impact of safety event reporting was limited at the MD Anderson campus in Sugar Land, Texas. Therefore, we implemented the Secure, Attentive, Focused, Engaged (SAFE™) initiative to create, foster, and continuously improve safety culture throughout the campus, with a secondary goal of impacting patient experience.

In support of a clinical case of suspected congestive heart failure in a 22-yr-old male sand tiger shark (), a study was undertaken to identify feasible echocardiographic imaging planes and preliminary indices for this species. Eleven echocardiograms were performed on six apparently healthy sand tiger sharks.

Early and accurate detection of the causative agent of piscine lactococcosis is essential for management of the disease in fish farms. In this study, a TaqMan quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) targeting the 16S-23S rRNA internal transcribed spacer region was developed and validated.

As the geriatrics population rises globally, health science learners need to be prepared to work collaboratively to recognize and treat common conditions in geriatrics. To enable workforce preparation, the Institute of Medicine and the National League for Nursing emphasize the need to implement interprofessional active learning activities for undergraduate healthcare learners at academic medical centers.

PEG-induced protein precipitation has been routinely used to assess protein solubility. To provide insights for better understanding and implementation of PEG-induced protein precipitation assay, this work compares different solubility measures and examines their relevance to loss of protein solubility in concentrated formulations.

Ejaculates (n = 82) collected from whitespotted bamboo sharks Chiloscyllium plagiosum (n = 19) were assessed and cold-stored raw or extended at 4 °C. Females (n = 20) were inseminated with fresh or 24-48 h cold-stored raw or extended semen and paternity of offspring determined with microsatellite markers.

Through a series of C/C and H/H kinetic isotope effect studies, the rate-determining step for the polymerization was determined to be the formation of the metallacyclobutane ring. This experimental result was further validated through DFT calculations showing that the highest energy transition state is metallacyclobutane formation.

Here we describe fatal sarcosystosis due to in 3 penguins (Family Spheniscidae) under managed care, including one African penguin (), and two Southern rockhopper penguins (). Randomly distributed foci of necrosis, inflammatory cell infiltrates, edema, and variable numbers of round to elongated protozoal schizonts were observed in sections of lung.

This is particularly difficult in early childhood, for children who are prelinguistic or are just beginning to speak their first words. In this stage, children's responses are commonly measured by presenting young children with a limited choice between one of a small number of options (e.

This ternary material was synthesized by a novel and low-cost solventless route using simple ethyl xanthate complexes of silver and bismuth. p-XRD analysis indicates that the synthesized ternary material is highly crystalline and belongs to the cubic phase (schapbachite).

This myxozoan has low host specificity and is the causative agent of myxozoan emaciation disease, known for heavy mortalities and significant financial losses within Mediterranean, Red Sea, and Asian aquaculture industries. The disease has rarely been documented within public aquaria and, to our knowledge, has never been confirmed within the USA.

However, we need epidemiological tools to reliably trace the circulation of such fungal strains within medical or veterinary facilities, to recognize environmental contaminations that might lead to infection and to improve our understanding of factors responsible for the onset of outbreaks.

This result led to the development of a rate law describing living ROMP initiated by a Grubbs third-generation catalyst that includes an inverse first-order dependency in pyridine. Additionally, it is demonstrated that one of the two pyridines coordinated to the solid catalyst is fully dissociated in solution.
