Objectives: This study explored how group-based early parent education impacts development in preterm infants.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study, with a historical control group, included preterm infants (n = 246) with corrected ages (CAs) of 0-3 months. Those visiting the clinic between July 2017 and December 2018 formed the control group (n = 145), whereas those visiting between January 2019 and February 2020 (n = 101) constituted the education group.

Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Accompanied by Cholelithiasis and Nephrolithiasis: A Case Report.

Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by a distinctive facial appearance, growth/cognitive retardation, developmental delay, skeletal malformation, hypertrichosis, and other abnormalities. Patients with mild CdLS have less severe phenotypes, while retaining representative facial features. Mutations in the genes , , , , and have been associated with CdLS, with mutations in accounting for approximately 60% of cases.

Urinary GADD45G Protein Excretion Is Associated with IgA Nephropathy Progression.

: Growth arrest and DNA damage 45G (GADD45G) is a family of proteins involved in DNA damage response and cell growth arrest. In this study, we show evidence that urinary GADD45G protein is associated with the progression of IgA nephropathy. : Patients diagnosed with IgA nephropathy without reversible acute kidney injury at study initiation and with at least one subsequent serum creatinine (SCr) measurement were included.

Background/objectives: Research has suggested a potential relationship between apolipoproteins A (ApoA) and B (ApoB) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). This study explored the potential causal relationship between ApoA/ApoB levels and AMD/AMD subtypes using two-sample Mendelian randomisation (MR).

Methods: We selected 308 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for ApoA and 198 SNPs for ApoB from the UK Biobank data.

Sodium Phenylbutyrate Attenuates Cisplatin-Induced Acute Kidney Injury Through Inhibition of Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Kinase 4.

Cisplatin nephrotoxicity is a significant clinical issue, and currently, no approved drug exists to prevent cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). This study investigated whether sodium phenylbutyrate (4-PBA), a chemical chaperone, can prevent cisplatin-induced AKI. Six consecutive days of intraperitoneal injections of 4-PBA were administered in a murine model before and after the cisplatin challenge.

Diagnostic Value of Endotoxin Activity for Acute Postoperative Complications: A Study in Major Abdominal Surgery Patients.

: Endotoxin, a component of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from bacteria, disrupts the immune system, potentially leading to multiorgan failure. Unlike previous studies, we enrolled patients with mild clinical conditions after major abdominal surgery and assessed the predictive value of endotoxin activity (EA) levels for acute complications which occur within 7 days postoperatively. Also, the differential diagnostic value of EA was assessed in a subgroup of patients with abnormal liver function during the immediate postoperative period.

Background: Ankle arthritis is a common degenerative disease that progresses as cartilage damage in the lower tibia and upper talus progresses, resulting in loss of joint function. : We investigated the prevalence of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and associated risk factors in Korean subjects who underwent comprehensive health screening examinations. : This single health screening center-based cross-sectional study included a total of 73,574 consecutive participants older than 30 years who underwent a health screening examination, including fundus photography, between October 2003 and December 2010. Weighted prevalence and risk factors for AMD were evaluated.

Clinical Readiness for Practice of Nursing Students: A Concept Analysis.

Introduction: The concept of clinical readiness for practice among nursing students is yet to be analyzed, and there is a lack of empirical evidence on its usage among academics and clinicians.

Methods: This concept analysis is anchored on a systematic literature review that adhered to the PRISMA guidelines and incorporated the eight iterative steps of Walker and Avant's concept analysis method. This concept analysis method involved: (1) choosing a concept; (2) determining the objectives of the analysis; (3) identifying usages of the concept; (4) determining the defining attributes; (5) identifying a model case; (6) identifying other cases, including borderline, contrary, and related cases; (7) identifying antecedents and consequences; and (8) defining empirical references.

Revealing 'Eha: A Qualitative Project on Historical Trauma Experiences Among Wāhine.

Historical trauma has been established as a determinant of health among all Hawaiians, but limited research exists on how Wāhine (Native Hawaiian women) uniquely experience historical trauma. A phenomenological qualitative study was conducted to primarily understand how historical trauma, trauma response, and the transmission and modes of intergenerational trauma intersect with sexism and patriarchy among contemporary Wāhine, as described in the Historical Trauma Conceptual Model. With partnership and approval of the Waimānalo Pono Research Hui, interviews were conducted with 13 Wāhine from various generations in Hawai'i.

Destructive and Constructive Interparental Conflict, Parenting Stress, Unsupportive Parenting, and Children's Insecurity: Examining Short-Term Longitudinal Dyadic Spillover and Crossover Process.

Based on emotional security, stress, and spillover and crossover theories, this study aimed to examine the indirect pathways between destructive and constructive interparental conflict, parenting stress, unsupportive parenting, and child insecurity six months later. Using data from two time points beginning when Korean children ( = 159) were approximately 3-5 years old, two dual-mediation models of the relevant variables were constructed. The results indicate that destructive conflict is associated with higher levels of parenting stress, whereas constructive conflict is associated with lower levels of stress.

How Do Korean Secondary School Teachers Perceive Psychological Burnout in Their Teaching Careers?

The psychological burnout experienced by teachers is not merely a personal issue; it is a significant social problem that impacts the entire educational environment. This study utilised Q methodology to identify the subjective perceptions of psychological burnout among Korean secondary school teachers and then analysed the characteristics of these perception types. An analysis of 34 statements and a P sample of 30 teachers resulted in four types of perceptions regarding teachers' psychological burnout: 'burnout due to damaged self-esteem' (Type 1), 'burnout due to organisational neglect' (Type 2), 'burnout due to excessive role demands' (Type 3) and 'burnout due to disrespectful behaviour' (Type 4).

A Systematic Review of Research Patterns and Trends in Early Childhood Education Teacher Well-Being from 1993 to 2023: A Trajectory Landscape.

This current systematic review of research represents an attempt to unveil a descriptive picture of the evolving state of the body of knowledge about the well-being of early childhood education (ECE) teachers over 31 years from 1993 to 2023. In this review, 167 articles selected from SCOPUS are analysed using a descriptive quantitative approach. The analysis shows that quantitative research methods and empirical research are predominant in this field.

Subjective Perception Types of Older Adults Living Alone as Farmers in Korea: A Q Methodology Study.

This study explores the psychological characteristics of older adults living alone as farmers in South Korea, categorising their subjective experiences. Using Q methodology, interviews were conducted with participants from Seosan, Chungcheong Province, South Korea, on 19 and 22 June 2023. A total of 25 participants conducted Q sorting with 33 finalized Q sample items in three locations: Chungju, Chungcheong Province, on 14 July 2023; Ildong, Gyeonggi Province, on 28 July 2023; and Seosan, Chungcheong Province, on 14 August 2023.

Emerging Love: A Subjective Exploration of Romantic Bonds in Early Adulthood Within the South Korean Context.

This study examines and categorises subjective perceptions of love among individuals in their twenties and thirties, offering insights into their viewpoints during early adulthood. The study employed the Q methodology, suitable for analysing subjective perceptions such as perspectives, thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes. It included 23 participants selected through purposive sampling from the 2030 generation residing in South Korea, with 40 statements constructed for the research.
