Fibrosis is one of the key healing responses to injury, especially within the heart where it helps to maintain structural integrity following acute insults such as myocardial infarction. However, if it becomes dysregulated then fibrosis can become maladaptive leading to adverse remodelling, impaired cardiac function and heart failure. Fibroblast activation protein is exclusively expressed by activated fibroblasts, the key effector cells of fibrogenesis, and has a unique extracellular domain that is an ideal ligand for novel molecular imaging probes.

Radiotherapy (RT) for high-risk localized prostate cancer (HRLPC) can be controversial in the context of increasing detection of suspicious lymph nodes via advanced imaging techniques. The EORTC 22683 trial initially established RT with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) as the standard of care for HRLPC, but many patients remain uncured. GETUG-AFU-12 showed that addition of docetaxel and estramustine to ADT improved relapse-free survival but not overall survival.

This document on cardiovascular infection, including infective endocarditis, is the first in the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology Imaging Indications (ASNC I) series to assess the role of radionuclide imaging in the multimodality context for the evaluation of complex systemic diseases with multi-societal involvement including pertinent disciplines. A rigorous modified Delphi approach was used to determine consensus clinical indications, diagnostic criteria, and an algorithmic approach to diagnosis of cardiovascular infection including infective endocarditis. Cardiovascular infection incidence is increasing and is associated with high morbidity and mortality.

Methods: From inception to August 2023, a PubMed literature analysis of the latest version of guidelines for clinical hybrid cardiovascular imaging techniques including SPECT(/CT), PET(/CT), and PET(/MRI) was performed in two categories: (1) for clinical indications for all-in primary diagnosis; subgroup in prognosis and therapy evaluation; and for (2) imaging procedurals. We surveyed to what degree these followed a standard methodology to collect the data and provide levels of evidence, and for which topic systematic review evidence was executed.
Anomalous aortic origin of the coronary arteries are congenital anomalies with many anatomical forms. Due to the varying risk of sudden death, these abnormalities must be classified accurately. There are still questions about the mechanism and individual risk of sudden death, the natural history of these abnormalities and the benefits of a surgical correction.

Methods: Patients with PVE treated conservatively and positive WBC-SPECT imaging were identified retrospectively. Signal intensity was classified as intense if equal to or higher, or mild if lower, than the liver signal.
Background: Ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) based on ultrafast ultrasound imaging of circulating microbubbles (MB) can image microvascular blood flows in vivo up to the micron scale. Takayasu arteritis (TA) has an increased vascularisation of the thickened arterial wall when active. We aimed to perform vasa vasorum ULM of the carotid wall and demonstrate that ULM can provide imaging markers to assess the TA activity.

The aim of this economic evaluation was to perform a cost-effectiveness analysis of Rb-PET-MPI versus Tc-SPECT-MPI in patients with suspected myocardial ischemia according to pretest probabilities (PTP) of obstructive coronary artery disease based on the results of the RUBIS Trial.
Methods: Costs and effectiveness were calculated for all patients over 1 year and an incremental analysis of differences in costs and effectiveness in terms of diagnostic accuracy was performed.
Several randomized controlled trials have demonstrated the benefits of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) on ischemic stroke in patients with diabetes. In this review, we summarize and discuss the potential mechanisms of stroke protection by GLP-1RAs. GLP-1RAs exert multiple anti-atherosclerotic effects contributing to stroke prevention such as enhanced plaque stability, reduced vascular smooth muscle proliferation, increased nitric oxide, and improved endothelial function.

Many of these disease entities can be diagnosed by established cardiovascular diagnostic pathways. Nuclear medicine, however, has proven promising in the diagnosis of cardiomyopathies/heart failure, and peri- and myocarditis as well as arterial inflammation.

The field of nuclear cardiology has historically focused on cold spot imaging for the interpretation of myocardial ischemia and infarction. Hot spot imaging has been an important part of nuclear medicine, particularly for oncology or infection indications, and the use of hot spot imaging in nuclear cardiology continues to expand.
