Results: To expand our understanding of the underlying biological pathways and mechanisms controlling blood lipid levels, we leverage a large multi-ancestry meta-analysis (N = 1,654,960) of blood lipids to prioritize putative causal genes for 2286 lipid associations using six gene prediction approaches.

High-Throughput Sequencing Reveals Tobacco and Tomato Ringspot Viruses in Pawpaw.

Pawpaw () trees exhibiting stunting and foliar mosaic, chlorosis, or distortions were observed in New York. In 2021, leaf samples from two symptomatic trees and a sapling, as well as two asymptomatic trees, were tested for the presence of viruses and viroids by high-throughput sequencing (HTS) using total RNA after ribosomal RNA depletion. HTS sequence information revealed tobacco ringspot virus (TRSV) and tomato ringspot virus (ToRSV) in symptomatic but not in asymptomatic leaves.

Purpose: Infants who require extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy have an increased risk of neurological complications and mortality. Microvascular imaging (MVI) is an advanced Doppler technique that allows high-resolution visualization of microvasculature in the brain. We describe the feasibility and utility of MVI for the evaluation of cerebral microvascular perfusion in patients undergoing ECMO.

Social comparison is a mind-altering determinant that affects students' learning behavior. To understand the effect, three instructional approaches to teaching Chinese writing skills were designed and implemented in this study: (1) The No Comparison Group (NCG): students were asked to complete compositions on their own; (2) The Upward Comparison Group (UCG): superior composition examples were provided and the students were asked to write compositions on the same topics; and (3) The Downward Comparison Group (DCG): inferior examples were provided for students to critique. Taiwanese junior high school ninth graders participated in three groups, and wrote compositions on six themes.

Objective: To implement an all-day online artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted detection of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) by prehospital 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs) to facilitate patient triage for timely reperfusion therapy.

Methods: The proposed AI model combines a convolutional neural network and long short-term memory (CNN-LSTM) to predict STEMI on prehospital 12-lead ECGs obtained from mini-12-lead ECG devices equipped in ambulance vehicles in Central Taiwan. Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) from the 14 AI-implemented fire stations performed the on-site 12-lead ECG examinations using the mini portable device.
