Image-guided musculoskeletal biopsies.

Image-guided musculoskeletal (MSK) biopsies are safe and effective procedures that yield diagnostic accuracies up to 97%. When performed in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team, they provide crucial information that will affect patient care and outcome. Computed tomography and ultrasound are the main modalities used to carry out MSK biopsies, and various needles and techniques are available to help the radiologist perform these procedures safely.

Treatment of severe vertebral body compression fractures with percutaneous vertebroplasty.

Objective: Evaluate the efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty for severe vertebral body compression fractures.

Methods: Over a period of 6 years and 8 months, 661 vertebroplasties were performed in 292 patients at our institution. Of these, 69 patients met our criteria for a severe vertebral body compression fracture defined as vertebral body collapse to less than one-third of the original height.

Valid MR imaging predictors of prior knee arthroscopy.

Purpose: To determine whether fibrosis of the medial patellar reticulum (MPR), lateral patellar reticulum (LPR), deep medial aspect of Hoffa's fat pad (MDH), or deep lateral aspect of Hoffa's fat pad (LDH) is a valid predictor of prior knee arthroscopy.

Materials And Methods: Institutional review board approval and waiver of informed consent were obtained for this HIPPA-compliant study. Initially, fibrosis of the MPR, LPR, MDH, or LDH in MR imaging studies of 50 patients with prior knee arthroscopy and 100 patients without was recorded.

Combination radiofrequency ablation and cementoplasty for palliative treatment of painful neoplastic bone metastasis: experience with 53 treated lesions in 36 patients.

Objective: We report the safety and efficacy of combined radiofrequency ablation and cementoplasty in treating painful neoplastic bone lesions.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-three combined radiofrequency ablation and cementoplasty procedures were completed in 36 patients. Thirty-four vertebrae (20 lumbar, 14 thoracic), 14 acetabulae, 3 sacra, 1 pubic symphysis, and 1 humerus were treated.

Magnetic resonance imaging appearance of partial latissimus dorsi muscle tendon tear.

There is still a paucity of information about the clinical presentation, treatment and imaging findings of latissimus muscle tears. Only one study has specifically described the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of latissimus tendon tears. We describe a case of a high-grade tear in the latissimus muscle tendon in an active water skier with no significant prior medical history.
