COMPARISON OF THE EFFECT OF DEXAMETHASONE ON THE BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVEL IN PREGNANT AND NON-PREGNANT WOMEN UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA.

Objective: The aim: To compared blood glucose concentrations after intravenous injection of dexamethasone in the pregnant and non-pregnant women under general anesthesia.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: Eighty patients aged 18-50 years took part in the study (ASA class 1 and 2). Forty of patients were undergoing elective cesarean section under G/A and the other forty undergoing elective laparoscopic Cholecystectomy under G/A.

Alkaline hydrogen peroxide pretreatment of cladodes of cactus (opuntia ficus-indica) for biogas production.

The alkaline hydrogen peroxide (AHP) pretreatment of cladodes of cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) for biogas production was evaluated based on the delignification of cladodes of cactus. The effects of alkaline hydrogen peroxide concentration (30% w/w solution) and the pretreatment time (3, 6, 9, and 12 h) were evaluated at pH 11.5, temperature of 30 °C, and 180 rpm for removal of lignin.

Background: Inhaled medications are the cornerstone of asthma therapy. Metered dose inhaler technique is a widely used technique to administer medications like corticosteroids. Meanwhile, the health professionals and patients knowledge and practice towards this metered dose inhaler is quite deficient but arguably understood by policy makers or education expertise.

Smear Posetive Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB) Prevalence Amongst Patients at Agaro Teaching Health Center, South West Ethiopia.

Background: World Health organization (WHO) declared tuberculosis as a global emergency because it poses a serious public health threat in different countries especially, in Africa. According to WHO report of 2007, Directly Observed Treatment Short course (DOTS) coverage in Ethiopia reached 95 percent of the population; despite this fact the trend of tuberculosis in most of the districts of Ethiopia is not known. Hence, this study has revealed the trend and determined the overall prevalence of smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis in five years (2005/6-2009/10) in Agaro teaching health center, south west Ethiopia.
