Exploring the readiness to practice of underrepresented healthcare workers: A scoping review.

Background: Studies across the extant literature suggest that less-experienced healthcare workers are more likely to experience adverse outcomes such as burnout, sick leaves, or intend to leave the profession. Thus, one's readiness to practice is an important element that requires more attention. While extensive research exists on the readiness of certain professions like nurses, a notable gap remains concerning other healthcare workers.

Systematic Review: Efficacy of Medical Therapy on Outcomes Important to Pediatric Patients with X-Linked Hypophosphatemia.

Objective: To examine the evidence addressing the management of X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH) in children to inform treatment recommendations.

Methods: We searched Embase, MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central up to May 2023. Eligible studies included RCTs and observational studies of individuals less than 18yrs with clinically or genetically confirmed XLH.

Inclusive research is needed to understand how contemplative practices are used by people of diverse identities. Metta meditation-also known as loving-kindness meditation-may be particularly relevant for people committed to equity and justice because of the social nature of the practice. Using community-based participatory research and an intersectional framework, we assessed how people in a diverse meditation community teach and practice metta meditation.

Does Seven Days of Postoperative Enoxaparin Increase Bleeding Risk in Abdominal Contouring Surgery? A Single-center Experience.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) poses a major risk after abdominal contouring surgery, impacting morbidity and mortality. Despite various preventative strategies, surgeons are cautious about using enoxaparin for extended postoperative periods. This study aims to determine if a 7-day postoperative course of enoxaparin increases bleeding risks compared with a single dose of intraoperative unfractionated heparin in patients undergoing abdominal contouring surgery.

The current work aimed to compare the role of human umbilical cord blood-MSCs (hUCB-MSCs) and their derived exosomes in the alleviation of liver cirrhosis focusing on the role of miR-23b and miR-221 and their direct effectors in inflammatory and autophagic pathways.

Background: Cross-sectional evidence suggests that access to essential mobility assistive products (MAPs) might be dependent on non-clinical factors. However, MAP use is better understood as a dynamic process wherein individuals pass through different states of MAP need and use. We aimed to test associations of demographic, socioeconomic, and social factors with transitions between MAP need and use states.

Hsp90 is a dimeric molecular chaperone that is important for the folding, stabilization, activation, and maturation of hundreds of protein substrates called "clients" in cells. Dozens of co-chaperones and hundreds of post-translational modifications (PTMs) regulate the ATP-dependent client activation cycle. The Aha1 co-chaperone is the most potent stimulator of the ATPase cycle of Hsp90 and phosphorylation of threonine 22 in Hsp90 can regulate the recruitment of Aha1 in cells.

Outcomes of Patients With Five or More Brain Metastases Treated With Stereotactic Radiosurgery From 2014 to 2019: A UK Series.

Aims: Treatment with stereotactic radiosurgery/radiotherapy (SRS/SRT) is standard practice in selected patients with small numbers of brain metastases (BMs). It is less accepted in those with ≥5 BMs, due to the lack of a prospective evidence base. While randomised trials are ongoing, we present the experience of a single UK cancer centre in using SRS/SRT for patients with 5 or more BMs without whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT).

Living restricted lives - Understanding the impact of isolation, social distancing and other restriction measures on older care home residents and their relatives in England during the COVID-19 pandemic: A qualitative study.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, care homes for older adults in England implemented isolation, social distancing and other restriction measures to help protect residents from contracting the virus. Little was known about the physical and psychological impacts that these measures would have upon residents and their relatives.

Aim: To explore the experiences of residents and their relatives of living restricted lives during the pandemic.

Background: In response to the urgent need for continuous discovery of new anti-proliferative agents, a new series of quinazoline compounds was prepared.

Expanding the genotypic and phenotypic spectrum of Egyptian children with maple syrup urine disease.

Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD, OMIM# 248600) is an autosomal recessive inborn error of metabolism characterized by elevated branched chain amino acids (BCAA) leucine/isoleucine and valine in blood of affected children. The phenotypic and genotypic spectrum of MSUD is largely unreported in Egypt. We recruited ten patients (4 males/6 females, 2weeks-12years) from nine unrelated families with clinical and biochemical evidence of MSUD.

Depression in geriatrics: a systematic review and meta-analysis of prevalence and risk factors in Egypt.

Background: Depression is the most common psychiatric disorder in older adults, even though it is commonly misdiagnosed and undertreated, leading to exacerbations of preexisting medical conditions and even a higher mortality rate. In the present systematic review with meta-analysis, we quantify the magnitude of depression and its associated risk factors among the older adult population in Egypt.

Methods: A thorough literature search was performed from 2010 up to October 2023.

Background: Older people living in care homes are at high risk of poor health outcomes and mortality if they contract coronavirus disease 2019. Protective measures include social distancing and isolation, although implementation is challenging.

Objectives: To explore the real-life experiences of social distancing and isolation in care homes for older people, and to develop a toolkit of guidance and resources.

Potassium inwardly-rectifying channel subfamily J member 11 (KCNJ11) gene polymorphism in Egyptian type 2 diabetic patients: a single-center study.

Background: The KCNJ11 gene belongs to the potassium channel gene family. It has a major role in the secretion of insulin. Genetic variations in KCNJ11 are possibly responsible for the progression of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Flexible bronchoscopy-assisted removal of aspirated scarf pins from the tracheobronchial tree: the experience of 146 subjects.

Aspiration of scarf pins is a common problem in specific geographical locations where the Muslim population is high, especially in countries like Egypt, Bangladesh, Middle Eastern countries, and certain regions in India. This condition is also referred to as hijab-pin syndrome. We discuss the largest experience of flexible bronchoscopic extraction of aspirated scarf pins from the tracheobronchial tree.
