Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally and presents significant challenges in Egypt. In 2023, the first annual meeting of the Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Faculty, organized by the Egyptian Cancer Research Network and the Egyptian Society of Respiratory Neoplasms, was held in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting aimed to address gaps in lung cancer management across Egypt and the broader Middle East and North Africa region.

Interruption of osteoclast differentiation through zoledronate (Zol) disrupts the crosstalk between pre-osteoclasts and endothelial cells, hindering the initial angiogenic reaction following dental trauma. This disruption could therefore play a role in the pathogenesis of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ).

Background And Objective: Darolutamide is an androgen receptor inhibitor that increases overall survival in combination with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive and nonmetastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (PCa). This phase 2 study assessed the efficacy and safety of darolutamide as monotherapy without ADT in patients with eugonadal testosterone levels.
Methods: This was a 24-wk, open-label, randomized study of patients with hormone-sensitive, histologically confirmed PCa requiring gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH); an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status score of 0/1; and life expectancy >1 yr.
Globally, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fourth most common cause of death from cancer. The prevalence of this pathology, which has been on the rise in the last 30 years, has been predicted to continue increasing. HCC is the most common cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality in Egypt and is also the most common cancer in males.

The antenna is designed to produce circular polarization over the frequency range 5-6 GHz to communicate with WiMAX/WLAN antennas. Furthermore, it is designed to produce linear polarization over the frequency range 6-19 GHz for communication with the on-body biosensor antennas.

The goal of this study was to test whether BMP4 contributes to the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Immunofluorescence of BMP4 and the vascular marker isolectin-B4 was conducted on retinal sections of diabetic and non-diabetic human and experimental mice.

The most urgent problem in BCs is the high recurrence rate as two-thirds of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) will develop into muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), which retains a feature of rapid progress and metastasis. In addition, only a limited number of biomarkers are available for diagnosing BC compared to other cancers.

A monkey survey that included an Egyptian Panel voted on most of the questions of the original St.

The term "unknown primary" is heavily debatable given that sarcomas can arise from any tissue that harbors its histological structure. In this review, we discuss the validity of SUP as a distinct entity.

Our cohort included colonoscopic biopsies collected from 120 patients: 20 biopsies from patients with inflammatory bowel disease, 38 from colonic polyp patients, and 62 from patients with colorectal cancer. On top of this, the cohort included 20 biopsies from patients with non-specific mild to moderated colitis.

The mathematical predication models were used to determine the optimal conditions to produce oligosaccharide and determine the relationship between the factors (pH, temperature, and time).

Nurses contribute significantly to information sharing within the care continuum in hospitals and community. This study aimed to examine the awareness and readiness of patients with chronic illness and nurses to the use health information exchange.

A total of 120 1-day-old unsexed broiler chickens (Ross 308) were fed zinc oxide nanoparticles at different levels (0, 20, 40, or 60 mg/kg) in their diets. Each treatment included 6 replicate pens with 5 birds each.

Over the course of the last two years, recurrent outbreaks were reported, with animals showing severe clinical signs and consequentially higher fatalities than that of cases reported in previous LSD outbreaks. A total of 1050 cattle showing typical clinical signs suggestive of LSD were clinically and pathologically investigated during 2017-2018.

Ki-67 is a nucleolar antigen highly correlated with the rate of proliferating cells. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the prognostic impact of miR-21 and Ki-67 in DLBCL disease in a cohort of Egyptian patients.

The manuscript illustrates the origin of the Egyptian medical oncology program since the creation of the only specialized cancer center in the country, the National Cancer Institute of Cairo University (NCI-Cairo) in 1969, from Cairo University Medical School. The manuscript also outlines the NCI-Cairo's educational program for developing a cadre of academic medical oncologists for NCI-Cairo, other Egyptian medical institutions, and countries in the Middle East and Africa.

The recommended treatment regimens for brucellosis involve the use of two medications such as doxycycline and curcumin in order to avoid relapses and prolonged use of these drugs. Doxycycline has excellent activity in the acidic phagolysosomal environment, while curcumin modulates the immune system function and macrophage activity.

Herein, we aimed to evaluate the effect of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) on the barrier function and migration of RPE. In particular, we investigated the role of BMP2 and BMP4 in these processes as our analysis of RNA-sequencing (seq) data from human donor eyes demonstrated that they are highly differentially expressed BMP members in macular RPE/choroid versus macular retina.
