In recent decades, the advantages of minimizing surgical trauma have led to the development of minimally invasive surgical procedures. While the benefits often outweigh the risks, several challenges are encountered that are not present in conventional surgical approaches. Unilateral pulmonary edema (UPE) after mitral interventions performed through a right-sided approach is a rare but potentially life-threatening event.

Surgical treatment of breast cancer may lead to physical and psychological side effects. Exercises, especially those aided by virtual reality (VR), can improve both physical and psychological dysfunctions. To explore the effects of exercises using VR through Pablo games Technology on the function, grip strength, wrist ROM, fatigue, pain, activities of daily living (ADLs), and anxiety among post-operative breast cancer females.

Salinity is one of the abiotic stress factors that affect plant physiology and cause various plant disorders. Thiourea, which consists of amino, thiol, and imino groups, is an antioxidant and growth regulator. The objective was to determine the antioxidant role of thiourea (0, 3, 6 mM) in attenuating the effects of salinity (0 mM, 50 mM, 100 mM NaCl) on growth, yield, and some biochemical compositions of flax ( L.

Many plants are reported to enhance cognition in amnesic-animal models. The metabolite profile of fruit methanolic extract (CDFME) was characterized by LC-QTOF-MS/MS, and its total phenolics content (TPC) and total flavonoids content (TFC) were determined. In parallel, its cognitive-enhancing effect on scopolamine (SCOP)-induced AD in rats was evaluated.

The Klein-Gordon problem (KGP) is one of the interesting models that appear in many scientific phenomena. These models are characterized by memory effects, which provide insight into complex phenomena in the fields of physics. In this regard, we propose a new robust algorithm called the confluent Bernoulli approach with residual power series scheme (CBCA-RPSS) to give an approximate solution for the fractional nonlinear KGP.

Tissue regeneration in many skin defects is progressing with new treatments in recent years. Tissue engineering with the use of scaffolds offers more versatile and faster solutions in treatment. Extracellular matrix (ECM) and its three-dimensional (3D) network structure as a biological bond by imitating the tissue microstructure has been used for tissue repair, which can answer many existing challenges.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare how well calcium citrate and calcium carbonate are absorbed after different weight loss surgeries: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and one-anastomosis gastric bypass.
  • It involved 150 participants, focusing on measuring calcium levels in blood and urine, as well as parathyroid hormone levels, over a controlled testing period.
  • Results showed that calcium citrate resulted in lower parathyroid hormone levels and better calcium absorption than calcium carbonate, indicating it may be the more effective supplement post-surgery.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the effectiveness of macroscopic on-site evaluation (MOSE) during endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration/biopsy (EUS-FNA/FNB) in diagnosing solid lesions, particularly focusing on histological core sample adequacy.
  • Conducted across 16 medical centers in Egypt, Iraq, and Morocco, the study involved over 1000 patients and revealed that a significant majority of biopsied samples were adequate for histological evaluation, demonstrating a high diagnostic yield.
  • Results indicated that FNB needles performed best in terms of sensitivity and sample quality, highlighting the potential of MOSE as a valuable alternative to traditional rapid on-site evaluation methods.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined thyroid cancer cases at a hospital in Najran, Saudi Arabia, involving 279 patients from 2014 to 2021, primarily affecting women with a mean age of 42.8 years.
  • Most patients (60.9%) underwent total thyroidectomy, with a significant number showing localized disease; papillary and follicular cancers were the most common types.
  • Independent factors influencing mortality included older age, diabetes, certain cancer subtypes, and metastatic disease, with particularly high risks associated with tumor size and pulmonary metastasis.

Background: Cervical cancer, though one of the most common cancers affecting women globally, holds immense potential for prevention through screening. Therefore, we conducted this meta-analysis to assess the rate of cervical cancer screening in Arab countries and identify barriers among those who did not participate.

Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted from January 1st to June 1st,2024, including all observational studies that reported cervical cancer screening uptake in any Arab country.

In the vast growing wireless communication system creating robust encoding mechanisms using space-time block codes (STBC) for mmWave massive MIMO to overcome uncertainty and ensure reliability is a critical concept to be covered. This article reviews the core concepts behind MIMO communication, Massive MIMO communication, space-time block codes, and rateless codes in the context of wireless communication systems. Building on the foundational concepts of information theory and mmWave massive MIMO, we developed space-time block codes that maintain orthogonality for real-valued symbols.

The study was designed to monitor the cleavage rate (CR) and in-vitro cultivation rate (IVC) after addition of energy sources, non-essential amino acids, and antioxidants to the Synthetic oviductal fluid (SOF) and FertiCult. After in-vitro maturation and in-vitro fertilization, presumptive zygotes were cultured in one of two culture media: FertiCult media and SOF medium, supplemented with pyruvate, glucose, and sodium lactate as energy sources, as well as 10, 20, 250, 500, and 750 mg non-essential amino acids, and antioxidants. All stages of cleavage rate (CR), and in-vitro cultivation rate (IVC) of embryonic development including morula stage (MOR) and blastocyst (BLAS) have been assessed.

Unlabelled: Neuroschistosomiasis, a rare manifestation of schistosomiasis affecting the central nervous system (CNS), can result in severe neurological complications if not promptly diagnosed and treated. The condition arises due to the development of granulomas around eggs that become lodged within the CNS. Here we present a case report involving a young Filipino individual who had recurrent, uncontrolled seizures, ultimately attributed to neuroschistosomiasis.

In planar superconducting circuits, decoherence due to materials imperfections, especially two-level-system (TLS) defects at different interfaces, is a primary hurdle for advancing quantum computing and sensing applications. Traditional methods for mitigating TLS loss, such as etching oxide layers at metal and substrate interfaces, have proven to be inadequate due to the persistent challenge of oxide regrowth. In this work, we introduce a novel approach that employs molecular self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) to chemically bind at different interfaces of superconducting circuits.

Late coronary complications after an arterial switch operation (ASO) may occur due to vessel kinking, compression resulting from growth of the great vessels, ostial fibro-intimal thickening after reimplantation or possibly secondary to accelerated atherosclerosis. Given that many of these patients are asymptomatic, adult ASO survivors require special attention and an individualised approach to the early detection of coronary artery disease. Most previously reported cases of coronary artery disease after an ASO have been managed surgically.

Monkeypox virus (MPXV) is endemic in western and Central Africa, and in May 2022, a clade IIb lineage (B.1) caused a global outbreak outside Africa, resulting in its detection in 116 countries and territories. To understand the global phylogenetics of MPXV, we analyzed all available MPXV sequences, including 10,670 sequences from 65 countries collected between 1958 and 2024.
