Residency recruitment practices have undergone significant changes in the last several years. Interviews are now conducted fully virtually leading to both positive and negative downstream effects, including decreased cost to applicants and programs, decreased time away from clinical activities, flexibility in scheduling, and increased applications for applicants and program directors. In response to these changes, the Association of Academic Physiatrists Residency and Fellowship Program Directors Council convened a workgroup consisting of program directors, program coordinators, residents, and medical students who reviewed the available literature to provide an evidence-based set of best practices for program leaders and applicants.

Quantification of reaction fluxes of metabolic networks can help us understand how the integration of different metabolic pathways determine cellular functions. Yet, intracellular fluxes cannot be measured directly but are estimated with metabolic flux analysis (MFA) that relies on the patterns of isotope labeling of metabolites in the network. For metabolic systems, typical for plants, where all potentially labeled atoms effectively have only one source atom pool, only isotopically nonstationary MFA can provide information about intracellular fluxes.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to collect preliminary data to assess whether participation in adaptive video gaming using a pneumatic sip-and-puff video game controller may provide respiratory or health benefits for individuals with cervical-level spinal cord injuries.

Nanothreads are emerging one-dimensional sp-hybridized materials with high predicted tensile strength and a tunable band gap. They can be synthesized by compressing aromatic or nonaromatic small molecules to pressures ranging from 15-30 GPa. Limited supramolecular strategies have been utilized to synthesize sequence-defined polymers, despite the prominence of noncovalent interactions in materials design. Herein, we illustrate the utility of 'sacrificial' aryl-perfluoroaryl supramolecular synthons to synthesize sp-hybridized nanothreads from sp-enriched reactants. Study Question: Do males with the rare lysosomal storage disease infantile nephropathic cystinosis (INC) have a chance of biological fatherhood?

Summary Answer: Cryostorage of semen could be an option for approximately 20% of young males with INC, with surgical sperm retrieval from the centre of the testes providing additional opportunities for fatherhood.

What Is Known Already: Biallelic mutations in the cystinosin (CTNS) gene in INC cause dysfunction in cystine transport across lysosomal membranes and cystine accumulation throughout the body. Spontaneous paternity in cystinosis has not been described, despite the availability of cysteamine treatment.

In search of novel drugs against tuberculosis, we previously discovered and profiled a novel hydantoin-based family that demonstrated highly promising in vitro potency against . The compounds were found to be noncovalent inhibitors of DprE1, a subunit of decaprenylphosphoryl-β-d-ribose-2'-epimerase.
