Background: The present study aims to evaluate possible cardiac involvement in juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) patients by conventional methods and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) along with a systematic review of the literature on cardiac features in JDM.
Methods: The study group consisted of JDM patients who underwent cardiac MRI. We conducted a systematic review of the published literature involving JDM patients with cardiac involvement.
Meta-analysis of genome-wide association study data has implicated PDE4B in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), the leading cause of senile dementia. PDE4B encodes one of four subtypes of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-specific phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4A-D). To interrogate the involvement of PDE4B in the manifestation of AD-related phenotypes, the effects of a hypomorphic mutation (Pde4b) that decreases PDE4B's cAMP hydrolytic activity were evaluated in the App knock-in mouse model of AD using the Barnes maze test of spatial memory, C-2-deoxyglucose autoradiography, thioflavin-S staining of β-amyloid (Aβ) plaques, and inflammatory marker assay and transcriptomic analysis (RNA sequencing) of cerebral cortical tissue.

We aimed to explore the relationship between endothelial dysfunction and hypertension in newly diagnosed children without end-organ damage, considering carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), and functional capillaroscopy parameters. We also analyzed the differences between dipper and non-dipper patients.

It was aimed to determine the effects of pomegranate peel extract (PPE), N-acetylcysteine (NAC) alone and along with Ornipural on cadmium-induced toxicity. Forty-six Wistar Albino male rats were divided into 6 groups and the groups were formed into healthy control, Cadmium group (5 mg/kg/day, oral), Cadmium + Pomegranate peel extract (500 mg/kg, oral), Cadmium + N-acetylcysteine (100 mg/kg, oral), Cadmium + Pomegranate peel extract (500 mg/kg, oral) + Ornipural (1 mL/kg, subcutaneous) and Cadmium + N-acetylcysteine (100 mg/kg, oral) + Ornipural (1 mL/kg, subcutaneous).

Methods: Twenty-eight Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups (n = 7 per group): healthy rats, cyclophosphamide (200 mg/kg), cyclophosphamide (200 mg/kg) + ASE (100 mg/kg) and cyclophosphamide (200 mg/kg) + ASE (200 mg/kg).
Isorhamnetin is a hepatoprotective flavonoid molecule derived from the leaves and fruits of L. However, the protective effect of isorhamnetin on acetaminophen (APAP) induced hepatotoxicity is still unknown. Thus, we aimed to investigate the lipid-lowering, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective effects of isorhamnetin on APAP-induced hepatotoxicity in mice.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 47 patients diagnosed with MIS-C and 32 healthy age- and gender-matched children. All patients underwent two-dimensional, colour, pulsed, and tissue Doppler, and 2D speckle tracking echocardiography examination at admission, 2 weeks, and 2 months after discharge.
Background: To investigate the diagnostic accuracy of CXCL10/IP10 for left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in multisystemic inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C).
Methods: This cross-sectional, longitudinal study included 36 patients with MIS-C. Patients were classified as follows: (1) patients presenting with Kawasaki-like features (group I = 11); (2) patients presenting with LV systolic dysfunction (group II = 9); and (3) other presentations (group III = 3).
Objective: Doxorubicin (DOX) is a well-known cardiotoxic agent, whereas sacubitril/valsartan (Sac/Val) is an effective treatment option in heart failure. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of Sac/Val on DOX-induced cardiotoxicity in pretreatment mice model.
Methods: A total of 24 mice were equally classified into 4 groups; control group, DOX (20 mg/kg; fifth day), Sac/Val (80 mg/kg), and Sac/Val+DOX (Sac/Val was given from day one of the study before doxorubicin administration).
Objectives: To compare the effects of apixaban, rivaroxaban, dabigatran and enoxaparin on histopathology and blood parameters in rats with Achilles tendon injury.
Materials And Methods: Thirty adult, male Wistar albino rats weighting 220-240 g were randomly divided into five (one control and four treatment) groups and placed in a controlled environment. The Achilles tendon was incised and re-sutured in each rat, after which each group was provided the following treatment for 28 days: a) 2 ml saline to the control group, b) apixaban in 1 ml of saline (10 mg/kg/day) +1 ml of saline, c) rivaroxaban in 1 ml of saline (2 mg/kg/day) +1 ml saline, d) dabigatran in 1 ml of saline (30 mg/kg/day) +1 ml of saline, e) enoxaparin (80 μg/kg/day) + 2 ml of saline.

The genetic improvement of baking quality is one of the grand challenges in wheat breeding as the assessment of the associated traits often involves time-consuming, labour-intensive, and costly testing forcing breeders to postpone sophisticated quality tests to the very last phases of variety development. The prospect of genomic selection for complex traits like grain yield has been shown in numerous studies, and might thus be also an interesting method to select for baking quality traits.

The selection of lines that enter resource-demanding multi-environment trials is a crucial decision in every line breeding program as a large amount of resources are allocated for thoroughly testing these potential varietal candidates. We compared conventional phenotypic selection with various genomic selection approaches across multiple years as well as the merit of integrating phenotypic information from preliminary yield trials into the genomic selection framework.

Bias of within-cycle cross-validation and methods for improving the prediction accuracy were assessed. The prospect of genomic selection has been frequently shown by cross-validation studies using the same genetic material across multiple environments, but studies investigating genomic selection across multiple breeding cycles in applied bread wheat breeding are lacking.
