Dental Health Adjuncts and Care: Exploring Access Among Asylum Seekers and Refugees in London, United Kingdom.

Aims: This work examines and describes dental health among people seeking asylum and refugees (PSAR) who are evaluated by the Respond service. This includes access to and use of oral health products, access to dental care, and experience of dental pain.

Materials And Methods: The Respond service pilot offered holistic health assessments to PSAR in temporary accommodation within North Central London between July 2021 and March 2023.

A retrospective analysis of the patient journey for children with an unerupted maxillary central incisor.

Background: Maxillary central incisors (MCI) are the third most impacted teeth. Timely multidisciplinary management is indicated as unerupted incisors can cause functional- and appearance-related distress.

Aim: To assess the patient journey for children with unerupted MCI, including referral, clinical assessment, surgical management and follow-up treatment, and highlight areas for improvement, as well as identify factors impacting orthodontic treatment burden (OTB).

The Dental Health of Looked After Children in the UK and Dental Care Pathways: A Scoping Review.

Background: There has been a 37% increase in the number of Looked After Children (LAC) in England over the past decade. Although LAC have more health and social problems than their peers, little is known about their dental needs, barriers to dental care, and pathways used to access it.

Objectives: This scoping review assessed the evidence on the dental health needs of LAC in the UK and their different dental care pathways.

The current dental school applicant: an overview of the admission process for UK dental schools and the sociodemographic status of applicants.

Aims To determine the current processes used to assess dental school admissions in the UK as well as compare the applicants' demography.Methods All 16 dental schools in the UK were invited to complete a questionnaire analysing the admissions protocols between 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. These data were combined with the admission process information available online.

Ultrasound-guided core biopsy in the diagnosis of parotid neoplasia: an overview and update with a review of the literature.

Objective: Accurate diagnosis of parotid neoplasia is a key to determine the most appropriate patient management choice, including the need for surgery. This review provides an update of the literature on current practice and outcomes of parotid tissue sampling techniques, with an emphasis on ultrasound-guided core biopsy (USCB) and comparison with fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC).

Methods: A literature review of EMBASE, Medline, PubMed and Google Scholar was conducted.
