Our paper examines the political considerations in the intersectoral action that was evident during the SAR-COV-2 virus (COVID-19) pandemic through case studies of political and institutional responses in 16 nations (Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Ethiopia, India, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, UK, and USA). Our qualitative case study approach involved an iterative process of data gathering and interpretation through the three Is (institutions, ideas and interests) lens, which we used to shape our understanding of political and intersectoral factors affecting pandemic responses. The institutional factors examined were: national economic and political context; influence of the global economic order; structural inequities; and public health structures and legislation, including intersectoral action.

In this study, a novel drug delivery system based on zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) was developed for the enhanced delivery of cisplatin (CPT) to improve cancer treatment. The ZnO NPs were synthesized from guava leaf extract and then surface-functionalized with gallic acid (GA) to improve their biocompatibility and drug loading capacity. Pluronic F127, a biocompatible polymer, was then conjugated to the GA-modified ZnO NPs to further enhance their stability and cellular uptake.

Poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (PHA), a bacteria-synthesized biodegradable polyester, is a useful alternative to fossil resources, and current systems for its production rely predominantly on edible resources, raising concerns about microbial competition for nutrients. Therefore, we investigated mechanisms underlying PHA production from non-edible resources by Piscinibacter gummiphilus strain NS21. Liver injury with marked elevation of aspartate aminotransferase enzyme (AST) is commonly observed in dengue infection. To understand the pathogenesis of this liver damage, we compared the plasma levels of hepatic specific, centrilobular predominant enzymes (glutamate dehydrogenase, GLDH; glutathione S transferase-α, αGST), periportal enriched 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), periportal predominant arginase-1 (ARG-1), and other non-specific biomarkers (paraoxonase-1, PON-1) in patients with different outcomes of dengue infection. In this paper, we present the results of research on the thermoluminescence (TL) and optical absorption (OA) properties of colorless natural quartz (including natural quartz samples, sodium ion (Na) rich samples (by diffusion), and alkali metal (M) ion poor samples (by sweep)).
