Chimeric marker vaccine candidates, vGPE/PAPeV E and vGPE/PhoPeV E, have been generated and their efficacy and capability to differentiate infected from vaccinated animals were confirmed in previous studies. The safety profile of the two chimeric marker vaccine candidates, particularly in the potential reversion to virulence, was evaluated. Each virus was administered to pigs with a dose equivalent to the vaccination dose, and pooled tonsil homogenates were subsequently inoculated into further pigs.

Treatment of melanomas with targeted and immunotherapies has proven effective, but resistance to both treatments is a common outcome leaving a high proportion of patients without effective alternative treatment options. Replication stress is a common feature of melanomas, and this is effectively targeted using a combination of checkpoint kinase 1 (CHK1) inhibitor and low-dose hydroxyurea (LDHU). This combination also promotes inflammatory and anti-tumour immune responses in vivo.

In the history of rice-shrimp farming (RSF) in the Mekong Delta, in saline acid sulfate soils (ASS), RSF has proved its sustainability as there is no long-term accumulation of acidity and salinity that adversely affect RSF production. However, the soil processes involved in this phenomenon are not well understood. This study aimed to determine the significant changes in soil and water chemical indicators associated with soil processes during different stages of RSF.

The available phosphorus (P) in acid sulfate soils (ASSs) is low because of fixation by aluminum (Al) and iron (Fe), resulting in decreased P use efficiency and crop yield. At present, the use of dicarboxylic acid polymer (DCAP) coated on P fertilizer is expected to improve P use efficiency and plant productivity. However, the influence of DCAP on P solubility and on the yield of sweet potato cultivated in acidic soils has not been elucidated.

Article Synopsis
  • Cover crops and mulching can improve soil porosity and nutrient availability, but their effects on raised bed soils were not well understood.
  • A field study conducted over three years in a pomelo orchard tested the effects of different treatments, including no cover crop, legume cover crops, and rice straw mulch, on soil characteristics.
  • The results showed that rice straw mulch and legume cover crops reduced soil bulk density and increased porosity, while soil nutrients improved significantly after two years, suggesting these practices are beneficial for fruit orchards.

This study built theoretical and practical models to evaluate the corrosion resistance of concrete for coastal offshore structures in Vietnam. A mathematical model was developed in the form of a system of nonlinear partial differential equations characterizing the diffusion "free calcium hydroxide" in a solid of a concrete structure. The model describes the process of non-stationary mass conductivity observed in the "concrete structure-marine environment" system under non-uniform arbitrary initial conditions, as well as combined boundary conditions of the second and third kind, taking into account the nonlinear nature of the coefficients of mass conductivity and mass transfer .

This paper represents an analysis of the spillover effects and time-frequency connectedness between crude oil prices and agricultural commodity markets using both the spillover index of Diebold and Yilmaz (2012) and the wavelet coherence model to evaluate whether the time-varying return spillover index exhibited the intensity and direction of transmission during the Covid-19 outbreak. Overall, the current results shed light on that in comparison with the pre-Covid-19 period, and the return spillover is more apparent during the Covid-19 crisis. However, levels of the intensity of this relationship vary through the period of research, with several intervals witnessing both negative and positive interactions.

The authors developed a global chronic total occlusion crossing algorithm following 10 steps: 1) dual angiography; 2) careful angiographic review focusing on proximal cap morphology, occlusion segment, distal vessel quality, and collateral circulation; 3) approaching proximal cap ambiguity using intravascular ultrasound, retrograde, and move-the-cap techniques; 4) approaching poor distal vessel quality using the retrograde approach and bifurcation at the distal cap by use of a dual-lumen catheter and intravascular ultrasound; 5) feasibility of retrograde crossing through grafts and septal and epicardial collateral vessels; 6) antegrade wiring strategies; 7) retrograde approach; 8) changing strategy when failing to achieve progress; 9) considering performing an investment procedure if crossing attempts fail; and 10) stopping when reaching high radiation or contrast dose or in case of long procedural time, occurrence of a serious complication, operator and patient fatigue, or lack of expertise or equipment. This algorithm can improve outcomes and expand discussion, research, and collaboration.
