Aim: To explore whether tooth replacement in a southern region of Vietnam is in line with the primary health care approach, aiming at health services for all people at affordable costs.
Methods: Tooth replacement was investigated by means of prostheses as delivered by four dental laboratories of which the output was considered representative. Information was based on dental casts related to the prostheses.
Objectives: To evaluate the cytotoxicity of Shellac F, a new fluoride varnish, and its effects on human dentin hydraulic conductance.
Methods: Shellac F was compared to another fluoride varnish (Duraphat) and a fluoride containing desensitizing agent (Isodan). The cytotoxicity test was performed on human gingival fibroblasts and through dentin slice on human pulp fibroblasts.
In order to evaluate the uptake of fluoride (F) into tooth structures following water fluoridation in Ho Chi Minh City, F concentrations were measured from the enamel surface through the enamel-dentine junction (EDJ) to dentine close to the pulp in premolars. Calcification had been completed in all the teeth before fluoridation. Samples were obtained from fluoridated areas of the City ([F]: 0.
