Canine cutaneous histiocytoma (CCH) is a tumor that originates from dermal Langerhans cells and affects particularly young dogs. The common spontaneous regression of CCH makes it an interesting model in comparative oncology research. Previous studies have indicated that anti-tumor immune responses may be involved, but details remain speculative to date.

One biomimetic approach to surface passivation involves a series of surface coatings based on the slick surfaces of carnivorous pitcher plants (Nepenthes), termed slippery liquid-infused porous surfaces (SLIPS). This study introduces a simplified method to produce SLIPS using a polydopamine (PDA) anchor layer, inspired by mussel adhesion. SLIPS layers were formed on cyclic olefin copolymer, silicon, and stainless steel substrates, by first growing a PDA film on each substrate.

Methods: Anthropometric and clinical data from 36 959 people with diabetes diagnosed at age 30-70 years enrolled in the prospective diabetes patients follow-up (DPV) registry from 1995 to 2022 were analysed cross-sectionally at diagnosis and follow-up (≥6 months after diagnosis). LADA was defined as clinical diagnosis of T2D, positivity of ≥1 islet autoantibody and an insulin-free interval of ≥6 months upon diabetes diagnosis.
This study highlights the substantially improved hydrothermal stability of 7-methyl-1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0] dec-5-enium [mTBDH] in [mTBDH][MeOCHCOO] compared to [mTBDH][OAc], as well as the strong cellulose dissolution capability of [mTBDH][MeOCHCOO] and excellent spinnability with a maximum draw ratio of 14.

The considerable heterogeneity in molecular testing highlights the urgent need to harmonize practices across Europe and beyond, establishing a more standardized and consistent approach in MP laboratories. Professionals, especially molecular pathologists, must move beyond traditional education to cope with this heterogeneity.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA combination of maleic acid and sodium hypophosphite as a durable press finishing agent has been reported as a safer but equally effective alternative to conventional formaldehyde-based cross-linking agents for applications in cellulose-based fiber and textile finishing. However, the mechanistic details of this system have not yet been fully elucidated to allow optimization of the conditions. Effective cross-linking treatment requires high curing temperatures of ≥160 °C, which enhances oxidative and thermal degradation of cellulose.

Dyeing and finishing processes use an extensive amount of water and chemicals, and most of the effluents and wastewater is released into the environment. In this study, we explore spin-dyeing of man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCFs) with vat dyes using the Ioncell process, circumventing the ubiquitous use of fresh water and potentially reducing effluents streams to a great extent.

Purpose: Acute ischemic stroke is a leading cause of death and morbidity worldwide. Despite advances in medical technology, nearly 30% of strokes result in incomplete vessel recanalization. Recent studies have demonstrated that clot composition correlates with success rates of mechanical thrombectomy procedures.

In this context, cellulose-derived separators play a central role in enhancing the performance of green energy storage devices. However, these often exhibit disadvantageous porosity and limited wet strength.

As part of the National Pandemic Cohort Network (NAPKON) of the University Medicine Network, the "Integration Core" was established to design the legal, technical and organisational requirements for the integration of inventory data into ongoing prospective data collections and to test the feasibility of the newly developed solutions using use cases (UCs). Detailed study documents of the data collections were obtained.

High-quality biosamples linked to clinical data, stored in biobanks are essential for biomedical research. We aimed to facilitate the findability of these biosamples and their associated data.

Industrial ventilation, automotive composites, upholstery, carpets, military uniforms, hospital furnishings, and curtains necessitate the integration of flame-retardance properties into jute fibers. In this investigation, seven weave-structured jute fabrics were treated using an organophosphorus-based flame-retardant (FR) chemical (ITOFLAM CPN) and a crosslinking agent (KNITTEX CHN) by the pad-dry-cure method.

Patients And Methods: Our aim was to develop a quantitative prediction tool for individual patient's 3-/5-year overall survival (OS) probability. We integrated established clinical and molecular risk factors into a comprehensive prognostic model and evaluated and validated its risk discrimination capabilities versus R-ISS, R2-ISS, and Mayo-2022-score.
Subsurface barriers have been proposed to protect coastal aquifers from sea-level rise induced seawater intrusion, but the potential for groundwater emergence near subsurface barriers remains unknown. Here, we investigated how emergence changes groundwater flow conditions and influences the protective performance of subsurface barriers with sea-level rise. We tested the subterranean consequences of sea-level rise for cutoff walls and subsurface dams with cross-shore groundwater flow and salt transport models, investigating how barrier design, aquifer properties, and hydrological conditions control the potential for emergence, groundwater partitioning at the barrier, and seawater intrusion with sea-level rise.

While translational neuroscience relies on electrical recording and modulation techniques, mechanistic studies in rodent models leverage genetic precision of optical methods, such as optogenetics and imaging of fluorescent indicators. In addition to electrical signal transduction, neurons produce and receive diverse chemical signals which motivate tools to probe and modulate neurochemistry.

The atoms in a molecule are first assigned to tetrahedra in groups of four atoms by Delaunay tetrahedralization adapted for efficient GPU implementation, and the SASA values for atoms and molecules are calculated based on the tetrahedralization information and inclusion-exclusion method. The SASA values from the numerical icosahedral-based method can be reproduced with >98% accuracy for both proteins and RNAs.

Changes in mitochondrial architecture and morphology not only reflect their capacity for oxidative phosphorylation and ATP synthesis but also impact their subcellular localization and interaction with other organelles. The role of these ultrastructural abnormalities in modulating electrophysiological properties and excitation-contraction coupling remains largely unknown and warrants direct investigation considering the growing appreciation of the functional and structural coupling between the mitochondrial network, the calcium cycling machinery, and sarcolemmal ion channels in the cardiac myocyte.
