The tunable geometrical properties of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) endow them with the capacity to exhibit distinct behaviors with respect to both macroscopic (color) and microscopic (resonance wavelength) aspects, which has been extensively utilized in localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensing platforms. Additionally, functionalizing AuNP surfaces enhances the platforms' capabilities, allowing for the detection of a wide range of molecules related to various aspects of human health. In this review, we comprehensively elucidate the fundamental principles of LSPR biosensing and provide an in-depth survey of the preparation processes for metal nanoparticles, encompassing deposition technology for large-scale particle production as well as ion reduction methods that afford superior control over the particles' physical and chemical attributes.

We report a 2-µm all-fiber nonlinear pulse compressor based on a tapered Pb-silicate photonic crystal fiber (PCF), which is capable of achieving large compression with low pedestal energy. A tapered Pb-silicate photonic crystal fiber with increased nonlinear coefficients is proposed for achieving self-similar pulse compression (SSPC) at 2 µm. The dynamic evolution of the fundamental order soliton is numerically analyzed based on the designed tapered fiber.

Consumers are becoming more concerned about pesticide residues in food. Since citrus represent a significant portion of the diet, it is appropriate to monitor the pesticide residues in citrus. In this paper, we modified a QuEChERS method combined with HPLC-MS/MS to investigate residue levels of 15 pesticides and 3 metabolites in citrus (whole fruit and pulp) and orange juice from the markets in China.

Dendrobium officinale, a minor crop with medicinal and edible value, is increasingly consumed by people, but the pesticide residues on it have received little attention. In this work, field trials were conducted under good agricultural practice conditions to investigate the residues of chlorothalonil, SDS-3701, metalaxyl, and dimethomorph in D. officinale; then the evolution of these pesticides after household processing was studied.

The residues of bifenazate (sum of bifenazate and bifenazate-diazene) and etoxazole in whole citrus and pulp collected from twelve regions of China were monitored and their chronic dietary risk to consumer were also evaluated. The citrus samples were extracted by a QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) method, and analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS).
