Invasive alien species (IAS) significantly impact biodiversity, human health, and economies, and considerable resources are often used to manage their spread. Few studies have focused on the human perception of IAS management, and little is known about approaches to improve stakeholder perception. This study examined perception gaps between managers and non-managers of a notorious weed Mikania micrantha and the preference for educational approaches to bridge those gaps.

A green method for simultaneous extraction and enrichment of flavonoids from Euonymus alatus was developed by ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) and temperature-induced cloud point extraction (TICPE) using PEG-base aqueous solution as the extractant. Based on screening different molecular weights of PEGs, PEG-400/water was used as the extractant, and the effects of key factors on extraction yields of flavonoids were investigated by single-factor experiments and response surface methodology (RSM). The optimum conditions of UAE were as follows: PEG-400 concentration of 16% (w/w), particle size of 80 mesh, solvent-to-material ratio of 60:1, extraction temperature of 90 °C and extraction time of 15 min.

A simple, green and efficient method for extraction, purification and enrichment of pesticide residues of triazoles and pyrethroids in Longan fruit was developed by ultrasonic-assisted aqueous two-phase extraction (UAATPE) coupled to vortex-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (VADLLME). Using an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) of ethanol/KHPO as extraction solvent, the composition of the ATPS, extraction temperature and time were investigated, respectively. Then VADLLME process also was optimized by investigating type and volume of extracting and dispersive solvents, vortex-assisted time and salt addition.

A novel method for determination of triazole fungicides and their enantiomers in foods was developed by aqueous two-phase extraction (ATPE) coupled with two-dimensional liquid chromatography (2D-LC). With an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) of ethanol/KHPO as biphasic extractant, the effects of the ATPS composition, extraction temperature and time on extraction yields of triazole fungicides were investigated. Optimum conditions were concluded as follows: ethanol concentration 31% (w/w) and KHPO concentration 21% (w/w), extraction temperature 60 °C, extraction time 21 min.

Microwave-assisted aqueous two-phase extraction (MAATPE) was applied to simultaneous extraction of diverse polysaccharides from Lentinus edodes with aqueous two-phase extraction system (ATPS) of ethanol/ammonium sulfate as the biphasic extractant. Key factors in MAATPE process were optimized by response surface methodology, and the optimum conditions were concluded as follows: the ATPS composition of ethanol concentration 26.0% (w/w) and (NH)SO concentration 19.

A novel method for hierarchical screening of illegal adulterants in Fur seal ginseng pills products was developed by multi-dimensional fingerprint profiling analysis. Fingerprint feature of the samples was acquired by high-performance liquid chromatography analysis of 11 batches of samples with diode array detector and fluorescence detector, and then potential illegal adulterants including phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitors, androgens, α receptor antagonists and yohimbine, were further separated at multiple wavelengths to reduce or remove interferences from sample matrix for highlight their chromatographic characteristics. Accordingly, a hierarchical screening strategy was designed by first-order and second-order fingerprints combined with spectral examination to achieve high accuracy and reliability.
