Introduction/objectives: Several observational investigations have observed the possible links between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and metabolic dysfunction associated with fatty liver disease (MAFLD), yet the underlying causal relationships remain undetermined. This study aimed to systemically infer the causal associations between AD and MAFLD by employing a bidirectional network two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.
Methods: Genome-wide significant (P < 5 × 10) genetic variants associated with AD and MAFLD were selected as instrumental variables (IVs) from the consortium of FinnGen, MRC-IEU, UK biobank, and genome-wide association studies (GWAS), respectively.
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are natural by-products of oxygen metabolism. As signaling molecules, ROS can regulate various physiological processes in the body. However excessive ROS may be a major cause of inflammatory diseases.

This study presents facile immobilized enzyme technology with the development of thermoresponsive enzyme-polymer conjugates (EPCs), using glucose oxidase (GOx) as a model enzyme, to address these limitations. By conjugating heteropolymers to the glycan moieties of GOx through a precise polymerization process, we could modulate the lower critical solution temperature of the EPCs, enhancing enzyme performance without compromising its active site.

Social-emotional skills are vital for individual development, yet research on which skills most effectively promote students' mental and physical health, particularly from a global perspective, remains limited. This study aims to address this gap by identifying the most important social-emotional skills using global data and machine learning approaches. Data from 61,585 students across nine countries, drawn from the OECD Social-Emotional Skills Survey, were analyzed (N = 7246, N = 5482, N = 13,528, N = 7246, N6434, N = 5482, N = 7246, N6434, and N6434).

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to manage emotions, which is negatively associated with burnout. Emotional labor, including strategies of surface acting (SA), deep acting (DA), and genuine expression (GE), plays a potentially key role in emotion management between EI and burnout for athletes.

The characterization results expressed that S-mZVI had mesoporous and macroporous structures, enabling successful capture of Cr(VI). Moreover, S-mZVI had the highest adsorption capacity for Cr(VI) (350.

Menstrual blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MenSCs) play a crucial role in tissue repair and regeneration, including that of TE. The Wnt signaling pathway, which is highly conserved and prevalent in eukaryotes, is essential for cell proliferation, tissue development, and reproductive functions.

Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed 1938 infertile men from China who were categorized as nonsmokers (n=1,067) and smokers (n=871), with the latter group further divided into moderate smokers (1-10 cigarettes per day) (n=568) and heavy smokers (>10 cigarettes per day) (n=303). We assessed semen volume, concentration, total sperm count, progressive motility, and normal morphology following World Health Organization (WHO 2010) guidelines.
Dysbiosis of the oral microbiota is related to chronic inflammation and carcinogenesis. Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn), a significant component of the oral microbiota, can perturb the immune system and form an inflammatory microenvironment for promoting the occurrence and progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). However, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive.

Previous studies have demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are considered ideal cells with multipotency for regenerative medicine and exhibit therapeutic effects on TE through their cellular secretions. However, there is limited research on strategies to enhance MSC secretion to improve their therapeutic efficacy.

Background: Parthenolide (PN), a key active ingredient of feverfew, has been used to treat gastrointestinal disorders. However, the mechanism of the cytotoxic effect exerted by PN on tumor cells has not been elucidated.
Objectives: To study the cytotoxic effect of PN on human gastric cancer cells, the specific death mode, and gene expression changes induced by PN.
Bisphenol A (BPA), as a kind of widely exerted environmental hazardous material, brings toxicity to both humans and animals. This study aimed to investigate the role of glutamine (Gln) in intestinal inflammation and microbiota in BPA-challenged piglets. Thirty-two piglets were randomly divided into four groups according to 2 factors including BPA (0 vs.

This study investigates the interplay between physical literacy, resilience, and burnout among researchers who experienced strict home quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic in China, with a particular focus on the mediating role of resilience. Employing a two-stage sampling procedure, a total of 363 researchers from diverse disciplines, notably social science and natural science, were enlisted and administered a series of validated scales, including the Perceived Physical Literacy Scale (PPL), the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-10), and the Chinese version of the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBL), via an anonymous online platform. The findings revealed substantial differences in physical literacy, resilience, and burnout across disciplines.

Protein drugs hold promise in treating multiple complex diseases, including cancer. The priority of protein drug application is precise delivery of substantial bioactive protein into tumor site. Metal-organic-framework (MOF) is widely considered as a promising carrier to encapsulate protein drug owing to the noncovalent interaction between carrier and protein.

However, the complexity of multi-view learning algorithm is much higher than that of single view learning algorithm. Based on the optimality conditions of two classical multi-view models: SVM-2K and multi-view twin support vector machine (MvTwSVM), this paper analyzes the corresponding relationship between dual variables and samples, and derives their safe screening rules for the first time, termed as SSR-SVM-2K and SSR-MvTwSVM.
