Despite improvements in the treatment of osteosarcoma, there is a need for new therapeutic strategies, in particular for the treatment of recurrent tumors and metastases. Adoptive immunotherapy with Vγ9Vδ2 T lymphocytes represents an attractive strategy. We have investigated combining adoptive immunotherapy with Vγ9Vδ2 T cells and zoledronate to optimize osteosarcoma therapy.

This paper aims to investigate the effects of artesunate (ART) on growth and apoptosis in human osteosarcoma HOS cell line in vitro and in vivo and to explore the possible underlying mechanisms. Cell viability was measured by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The induction of apoptosis was detected by light and transmission electron microscopy and flow cytometry.

Osteosarcoma is the second highest cause of cancer-related death in children and adolescents, partly due to dysfunction of the Fas/FasL signaling pathway, which leads to develop fatal metastasis. Since presenting no or low levels of Fas expression, resisting Fas ligand-induced apoptosis, and lack of FasL in the host environment, osteosarcoma cells always promote metastases growth and proliferate in the lungs. Therefore, agents, which up-regulate tumor cell surface Fas expression and function, in combination with immune cells, may be effective in treating osteosarcoma, especially lung metastases.

Leptospirosis is a serious infectious disease caused by pathogenic Leptospira. B- and T-cell-mediated immune responses contribute to the mechanisms of Leptospira interrogans infection and immune intervention. LipL32 and LipL21 are the conserved outer membrane lipoproteins of L.

In our previous study, we demonstrated that azurin could selectively trigger apoptosis in human osteosarcoma cell line U2OS cells. However, the rate of apoptosis (35.8 +/- 3.

Objective: To construct prokaryotic expression systems of ltB/ctB-lipL41/1 fusion genes, identify immunogenic and adjuvant activities of the products as well as to understand the frequencies of lipL41 gene that carrying and expressing in L. interrogans wild strains and specific antibody levels in sera from patients with leptospirosis.

Methods: Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with linking primer was applied to construct the fusion genes ltB-lipL41/1 and ctB-lipL41/1.

Aim: To analyze the factors which influence the serum levels of hyaluronic acid (HA), type III pro-collagen (PCIII), laminin (LN) and type IV collagen (C-IV) in liver fibrosis.

Methods: The serum specimens from 141 chronic hepatitis patients were assayed for fibrosis indexes including HA, PCIII, LN and C-IV with radioimmunoassay (RIA) and liver function indexes by an automatic biochemistry analyzer. The patients were then divided into consistent group and inconsistent group.
