Vector Borne Zoonotic Dis
February 2025
Getah virus (GETV) is a vector-borne virus that can proliferate in mosquitoes and be transmitted to host animals through bites. Clinical infection with the virus mainly causes diarrhea and reproductive disorders in pigs and fever, rash, and edema in horses. This caused huge losses to the pig industry and also affected the level of competition for horses.

The emergence of ORF5 RFLP 1-7-4-like (NADC34-like) PRRSV strain in China has brought a new round of challenges to PRRSV prevention.
Methods: In addition, recombinant adenovirus vaccine candidates against the newly emerged NADC34-like strain were constructed in the study; the immunogenicity of the vaccine was investigated in piglets.
Background: Dengue virus (DENV) is the most widespread arbovirus. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared dengue one of the top 10 global health threats in 2019. However, it has been underrepresented in bibliometric analyses.

Although BATV has been detected and isolated in mosquitoes in Yunnan Province, China, there have been no reports of livestock infection. Thus, we conducted a molecular and serological investigation of BATV in cattle and goat sera collected in spring and autumn from 2021 to 2022 in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, on the China-Vietnam border.

Exploring knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) among patients can identify barriers and challenges in following recommended practices, providing valuable insights for dental healthcare providers, policymakers, and researchers. This study aimed to explore the KAP of patients with dental arch deficiencies regarding tooth loss and dentures.

Despite the widespread prevalence of porcine SVA infection, no effective commercial vaccines for PIVD prevention and control are available, due to high costs associated with vaccine testing in pigs, considerable SVA diversity, and SVA rapid evolution. In this study, SVA CH/JL/2022 (OP562896), a novel mutant SVA strain derived from an isolate obtained from a pig farm in Jilin Province, China, was inactivated then combined with four adjuvants, MONTANIDETM GEL02 PR (GEL 02), MONTANIDETM ISA 201 VG (ISA 201), MONTANIDETM IMG 1313 VG N (IMS1313), or Rehydragel LV (LV).

Grossly, the mass was firm with off-white, poorly lobulated cut surfaces. Histologically, the luminal epithelial cells and myoepithelial cells proliferated with cartilage formation and focal squamous metaplasia.

Poxviruses encode a multisubunit DNA-dependent RNA polymerase (vRNAP) that carries out viral gene expression in the host cytoplasm, which is a viral factor essential to poxvirus replication. Due to its vital role in viral life, vRNAP has emerged as one of the potential drug targets.

However, the immune escape mechanism of PDCoV remains to be fully clarified. Transcriptomic analysis revealed a high abundance of interferon (IFN)-induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 3 (IFIT3) transcripts after PDCoV infection, which initially implied a correlation between IFIT3 and PDCoV.

Vaccine is one of the best methods to eliminate and control the spread of SVA. Virus-like particles (VLPs) can play important roles in prevention for infectious diseases.

Its prevalence is increasingly severe in Asia. This study conducted a GETV epidemiological investigation on 1,300 bovine sera collected in the Honghe Prefecture of Yunnan Province on the China-Myanmar border from 2022 to 2023.

However, detection of trace number of pathogens in real water sample from the environment still faces challenges, because complex environment disruptors can rapidly degrade targets. Herein, magnetic beads coated with fucoidan and polydopamine (Fuc-PDA-MBs) were introduced as the capture carrier for pretreatment of samples.

There is an urgent need for broad-spectrum vaccine protection against emerging variants. A vaccine based on the Delta strain spike protein was created by optimization of vector, codon, and protein structure to produce a subunit immunogen (Delta-6P-S) containing six proline mutations, stable pre-fusion conformation, and with high expression in CHO-S cells.

As part of this study, 259,300 midges were collected from four districts in Yunnan province, China, to detect the viral richness and diversity using metavirome analysis techniques. As many as 26 virus families were detected, and the partial sequences of bluetongue virus (BTV), dengue virus (DENV), and Getah virus (GETV) were identified by phylogenetic analysis and PCR amplification.

In recent years, parvoviruses have frequently mutated and expanded their host range to cause disease in many wild animals by altering their tissue tropism. Animal infection mainly results in acute enteritis and inflammation of other organs.

Nonstructural protein 5, also called 3C-like protease, cleaves viral polypeptides and host immune-related molecules to facilitate viral replication and immune evasion. Here, we demonstrated that SADS-CoV nsp5 significantly inhibits the Sendai virus (SEV)-induced production of IFN-β and inflammatory cytokines.

The sandwich stent technique is a commonly used method to preserve unilateral internal iliac artery flow when treating iliac artery aneurysm. In this case, covered stent grafts (Viabahn, Gore) were used to build the iliac limb of a sandwich stent. However, if Viabahn is released without long sheath protection, the trigger wire is easily wound on another stent, resulting in the Viabahn delivery system being inseparable from the stent.

Although FF possesses a prominent clinical therapeutic effect, seldom pharmacological studies have been reported on its anti-influenza B virus (IBV) activity.
Aim Of The Study: Influenza is an acute infectious respiratory disease caused by the influenza virus, which has high annual morbidity and mortality worldwide.
Breakthrough infections by SARS-CoV-2 variants pose a global challenge to COVID-19 pandemic control, and the development of more effective vaccines of broad-spectrum protection is needed. In this study, we constructed pVAX1-based plasmids encoding receptor-binding domain (RBD) chimera of SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 variants, including pAD1002 (encoding RBD), pAD1003 (encoding RBD) and pAD131 (encoding RBD). Plasmids pAD1002 and pAD131 were far more immunogenic than pAD1003 in terms of eliciting RBD-specific IgG when intramuscularly administered without electroporation.

Methods: From January to December 2021, the Women and Children Medical Center of Hainan Province collected 2389 samples of cervical exfoliated cells and vaginal swab specimens from gynecologic outpatients. The samples were then analyzed descriptively for data, and the detection rate of each pathogen was tallied.
Orf virus (ORFV) is the causative agent of contagious ecthyma, which is an important zoonotic pathogen with a widespread distribution affecting sheep, goats and humans. Our previous research showed that autophagy can be induced in host cells by ORFV infection. However, the exact mechanism of ORFV-induced autophagy remains unknown.

Orf is widespread in most sheep-raising countries in the world, causing huge economic losses. Although diagnostic methods for ORFV infection already exist, it is still necessary to develop a time-saving, labor-saving, specific, low-cost and visual diagnostic method for rapid detection of ORFV in the field and application in grassroots laboratories.
