Recurrent herpes zoster in a rheumatoid arthritis patient treated with tofacitinib: A case report and review of the literature.

Background: Tofacitinib is an oral Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor that is currently approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Varicella zoster virus reactivation leading to herpes zoster (HZ) is an adverse effect of this drug; however, recurrent HZ at the same site is a rare clinical condition.

Case Summary: A 70-year-old female RA patient had undergone 1-year of tofacitinib treatment (10 mg daily).

Diagnosis Value of Colposcope Combined with Serum Squamous Cell Carcinoma Antigen, Carbohydrate Antigen 125, and Carcinoembryonic Antigen for Moderate to Advanced Cervical Cancer Patients Treated with Modified Fuzheng Peiyuan Decoction.

Objective: To explore the diagnosis value of colposcope combined with serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) for moderate to advanced cervical cancer patients treated with modified Fuzheng Peiyuan decoction.

Methods: The clinical data of 43 moderate to advanced cervical cancer patients treated in Suzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 2018 to July 2019 were selected for the retrospective analysis, and 43 healthy women undergoing physical examination in our medical center in the same period were selected as the control group. The cervical cancer patients accepted the modified Fuzheng Peiyuan decoction treatment, the detection of SCC-Ag, CA125, and CEA and colposcope examination were performed to all research subjects, and the changes in indicators such as KPS scores and lesion perfusion parameters in cervical cancer patients before and after treatment were monitored, so as to analysis the clinical diagnosis value of combined diagnosis in treated patients.

Prognostic Value of Inflammatory and Tumour Markers in Small-Duct Subtype Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma after Curative-Intent Resection.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is characterised by heterogeneity, and it can be subdivided into small-duct and large-duct types. Inflammatory and tumour markers could effectively predict prognosis in many cancers, but no similar studies have been conducted in the histological subtypes of ICC. A total of 102 and 72 patients with ICC undergoing curative-intent resection were retrospectively subclassified into large-duct and small-duct types by chemical staining, respectively.

High expression of HVEM is associated with improved prognosis in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.

Herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM) displays dual signals in T-cell activation according to the ligands and intracytoplasmic effectors it interacts with. High HVEM expression may play an immunosuppressive role in several malignancies. The present study investigated the clinical impact of HVEM on intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), including its prognostic value, and association with clinicopathological features and immune status.

Background: Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1/2 (IDH1/2), BAP1, ARID1A and PBRM1 have been reported as the most frequent mutant genes in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), and their relationships with clinicopathological features and prognosis were researched in this study.

Methods: We collected clinical data of 130 ICC patients from January 2012 to December 2017. The IDH1/2 mutation and loss of BAP1, ARID1A and PBRM1 expressions were detected by DNA sequencing or immunohistochemical methods, and histological subtype of ICCs was determined by hematoxylin-eosin, Alcian blue and S100P staining.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are frequently dysregulated and have important roles in many diseases, particularly cancers. lncRNA-HEIH was first identified in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The expression, clinical significance and roles of lncRNA-HEIH in melanoma are still unknown.

Objective: Aplasia Ras homolog member I (ARHI) is associated with human ovarian cancer (HOC) growth and proliferation; however, the mechanisms are unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate ARHI effects in HOC SKOV3 cells.

Methods: We transfected SKOV3 cells with PIRES2-EGFP-ARHI and measured growth inhibition rates, cell cycle distribution, apoptosis rates, and expression of P-STAT3 (phosphorylated signal transduction and activators of transcription 3) and P-ERK (phosphorylated extracellular signal regulated protein kinase).

The combined fermentation of sludge from the secondary sedimentation tank of municipal wastewater treatment plants and food waste enables not only waste reduction, but also the acquisition of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) for the biosynthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). To better understand variables influencing the production of VFAs and PHAs, this study considered anaerobic fermentation of VFAs under different pH conditions. The production of VFA was the highest at an initial pH of 9.

Effect of magnetic field on the accumulation of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) by microorganism in activated sludge.

The effect of static magnetic field on polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) syntheses by activated sludge under aerobic dynamic feeding (ADF) was evaluated in sequence batch reactors (SBR), with magnetic field intensities of 42, 21, 11 and 7 millitesla (mT) exposure in the feast, feast-famine and famine periods, respectively, and one control group without magnetic field exposure. Under each level of magnetic field intensity, the effect of magnetic field exposed in the famine period to PHAs syntheses was most significant in comparison with that in the feast or feast-famine period. Maximal hydroxybutyrate (HB) and (HV) yield occurred at 21 and 11 mT, respectively, and the minimal yield occurred at 42 mT during exposure in the famine period.
