Flavonoids derived from plants in the citrus family can have an alleviating effect on allergic asthma. The aim of this study was to provide insights into the mechanisms by which these compounds exert their effects on allergic asthma by combining theoretical and practical approaches. Aurantii Fructus Immaturus flavonoids (AFIFs) were obtained by solvent extraction and were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

In clinical mastitis of dairy cows, the abnormal accumulation of apoptotic cells (ACs) and subsequent secondary necrosis and inflammation pose significant concerns, with macrophage-mediated efferocytosis, crucial for ACs clearance, remaining unexplored in this context. In nonruminants, MER proto-oncogene tyrosine kinase (MERTK) receptors are essential for efferocytosis and A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase 17 (ADAM17) is thought to play a role in regulating MERTK integrity. This study aimed to delineate the in situ role of efferocytosis in clinical mastitis, with a particular focus on the interaction between MERTK and ADAM17 in bovine macrophages.

Subclinical ketosis (SCK) is highly prevalent and easily overlooked, with insidious and slow progression of hepatic injury, often characterized by an imbalance in immune homeostasis. In nonruminants, macrophage polarization plays an important regulatory role in hepatic lipid accumulation, fibrosis and inflammatory processes. Thus, we aimed to investigate the status of hepatic macrophage polarization in SCK cows and to corroborate its association with liver injury and inflammation.

Red blood cell (RBC)-based carriers have emerged as promising vehicles for drug delivery due to their inherent biocompatibility and biodegradability. Traditional methods for loading nanoparticles (NPs) onto RBC surfaces often involve labor-intensive processes like incubation and multiple centrifugation steps, limiting their practicality and controllability. In this study, we introduce a fully integrated acoustofluidic platform that enables one-step preparation of NP-loaded RBC carriers with controlled modification and on-site purification.

This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the multi-dimensional factors associated with adequate social participation among stroke survivors based on the social ecological model, and to identify the gender and living place differences. A total of 470 stroke survivors were recruited through convenience sampling method in two northern tertiary hospitals in China. Stepwise multiple logistic regression models showed that multi-dimensional factors (except for political factors) accounted for 10.

Article Synopsis
  • * Research showed that cows with fatty liver had lower CAV1 levels and higher indicators of ER stress, along with increased fatty acid synthesis proteins compared to healthy cows.
  • * An in vitro study indicated that treating liver cells with free fatty acids (FFA) decreased CAV1 abundance and ER stress proteins while increasing proteins related to fatty acid synthesis, suggesting a potential connection between CAV1, ER stress, and fat metabolism.

Background: The outcomes of older patients are significantly limited by hospitalization-associated disability (HAD), and there are currently few available management options for HAD. This review aimed to identify and quantify the risk factors for HAD, to provide reliable evidence for developing a HAD prevention program centered on risk factor management among older patients.

Methods: The MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, CINAHL, and PubMed databases were searched in March 2024 to identify cross-sectional and cohort studies that used multivariable analysis to examine risk factors for HAD among older patients.

Bovine clinical mastitis is characterized by inflammation and immune responses, with apoptosis of mammary epithelial cells as a cellular reaction to infection. PIEZO1, identified as a mechanotransduction effector channel in nonruminant animals and sensitive to both mechanical stimuli or inflammatory signals like lipopolysaccharide (LPS). However, its role in inflammatory processes in cattle has not been well-documented.

In this study, the GMAW welding torch was controlled by a stepping motor to achieve a periodic swing. By controlling the swing speed, a micro-variable deposition path was obtained, which was called the micro-control deposition trajectory. The influence of the micro-control deposition trajectory on the arc characteristics, microstructure, and mechanical properties of 304 steel wire arc additive manufacturing was studied.

Background: Esophageal carcinoma is a highly aggressive digestive cancer responsible for a notable proportion of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Its elevated metastatic rate contributes to a poor prognosis in affected patients. In this case review, we aim to summarize the metastatic characteristics of intramural gastric metastasis (IGM) in mucosal esophageal squamous carcinoma.

Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory disease with increasing incidence worldwide and unclear etiology. Its clinical manifestations vary depending on location, extent, and severity of the lesions. In order to diagnose Crohn's disease, medical professionals need to comprehensively analyze patients' multimodal examination data, which includes medical imaging such as colonoscopy, pathological, and text information from clinical records.

Background: Various digital sleep interventions have been implemented to address sleep and psychological complications during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. However, the characteristics and effectiveness of digital sleep interventions on sleep and psychological outcomes for people with sleep problems during the COVID-19 pandemic are unknown.

Methods: The protocol of this systematic review and meta-analysis was registered on PROSPERO (ID: CRD42022325662), seven databases were searched from December 2019 to June 2023.

Background: As a novel endogenous anti-angiogenic molecule, vasohibin 1 (VASH1) is not only expressed in tumor stroma, but also in tumor tissue. Moreover, studies have shown that VASH1 may be a prognostic marker in colorectal cancer (CRC). Knockdown of VASH1 enhanced transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)/Smad3 pathway activity and type I/III collagen production.

LncRNA PSMA3-AS1 functions as an oncogene in several cancers, including ovarian cancer, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer. However, its role in gastric cancer (GC) progression remains unclear. In this study, the levels of PSMA3-AS1, miR-329-3p, and aldolase A (ALDOA) in 20 paired human GC tissues and adjacent nontumorous tissues were measured by real-time PCR.

Despite recent advances in cancer immunotherapy, their efficacy for treating patients with prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD) is low due to complex immune evasion mechanisms. However, the function of long non-coding RNA (lncRNAs) in immune evasion has not been fully clarified. This study aimed to expound the role of myocardial infarction-associated transcript (MIAT), a lncRNA significantly upregulated in three PRAD-associated datasets, in immune evasion and try to reveal the potential mechanism.

Background: Endoscopy has rapidly developed in recent years and has enabled further investigation into the origin and features of intestinal tumors. The small size and concealed position of these tumors make it difficult to distinguish them from nonneoplastic polyps and carcinoma in adenoma (CIA). The invasive depth and metastatic potential determine the operation regimen, which in turn affects the overall survival and distant prognosis.
