Carbohydrate-protein interactions play fundamental roles in numerous aspects of biological activities, and the search for new carbohydrate (CHO)-binding proteins (CBPs) has long been a research focus. In this study, through the analysis of CBP structures, we identified significant enrichment of aromatic residues in CHO-binding regions. We further summarized the structural features of these aromatic rings within the CHO-stacking region, namely "exposing" and "proximity" features, and developed a screening algorithm that can identify CHO-stacking Trp (tryptophan) residues based on these two features.

In organic solar cells (OSCs), comprehending the charge transfer mechanism at D/A interfaces is crucial for photoinduced charge generation and enhancing power conversion efficiency (PCE). The charge transfer mechanism and photovoltaic performance of the parallel stacking interface configuration of the PTQ10 polymer donor and T2EH non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) are systematically studied at the microscopic scale. The analysis of the electron-hole distribution of the PTQ10/T2EH excited states revealed the presence of multiple charge excitation modes and charge transfer pathways.

The cost-effectiveness of the Sabin inactivated poliovirus vaccine derived from the Sabin strains (S-IPV) and its reduced biosecurity risks during its manufacture make it the vaccine of choice over the IPVs derived from wild-type polioviruses. However, it is difficult to evaluate whether S-IPVs can achieve wild-type poliovirus containment in China, making its development there less attractive.
