The residues of tetracyclines (TCs) antibiotics present significant challenges in terms of contamination and pose a threat to human health. In this study, a cost-effective n-type semiconductor, CeO, were loaded with small amounts of Au nanoparticles were fabricated by one-step hydrothermal method under alkaline conditions in the presence of the surfactant CTAB. Characterization tests revealed that Au/CeO had significant visible light absorption capacity and good e/h separation efficiency.

Inclined interfacial solar evaporators, especially those based on microgrooved Al substrates, show great potential for application in water purification to alleviate the water crisis. However, performance degradation caused by corrosion and contamination seriously affects their service life. To address this issue, a renewable heterojunction with TiO as the inner layer and ZnO as the outer layer is formed on microgrooved Al by atomic layer deposition, which provides effective anticorrosion protection and efficiently kills adhered and planktonic bacteria.
