As global warming and water eutrophication, the multiple proliferation of harmful cyanobacteria can form algal blooms and cause serious ecological problems. In recent years, the large-scale and persistent cyanobacterial blooms occur frequently worldwide and have attracted widespread attention due to the harmful impacts. Among these harmful bloom-forming cyanobacteria, the ecological and toxicological impacts of planktonic cyanobacteria have been extensively studied.

Efficacy and safety of IDH inhibitors in IDH-mutated cancers: a systematic review and meta-analysis of 4 randomized controlled trials.

Background: Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) inhibitors have shown great promise in the treatment of cancers with IDH mutations. There have been numerous clinical trials conducted on IDH inhibitors, and to evaluate their efficacy and safety, we aim to perform a meta-analysis.

Methods: To gather data on the efficacy and safety of IDH inhibitors for IDH-mutated cancers, we systematically searched through databases including PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library.

Background: The relationship between age-friendliness of community (AFC), mental health and sleep quality is still unclear.

Method: Using a sample of Chinese older adults aged ≥60 years (N = 3099), this cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the serial mediating roles of resilience and depressive symptoms between AFC and sleep quality through structural equation modeling. Additionally, this study examined the association between each AFC dimension and sleep quality stratified by mental health, using the multivariable linear regression models.

To promote the bioconversion of marine chitin waste into value-added products, we expressed a novel pH-stable -derived chitinase, Chi1, in and subsequently purified, characterized, and evaluated it for its chitin-converting capacity. Our results indicated that Chi1 is of the glycoside hydrolase (GH) family 18 with a molecular weight of approximately 57 kDa, consisting of a GH18 catalytic domain and a cellulose-binding domain. We recorded its optimal activity at pH 5.

Quorum quenching (QQ) is an efficient way to mitigate membrane biofouling in a membrane bioreactor (MBR) during wastewater treatment. A QQ bacterium, Lysinibacillus sp. A4, was isolated and used to mitigate biofouling in an MBR during the treatment of wastewater containing metals.

Association between home and community-based services utilization and self-rated health among Chinese older adults with chronic diseases: evidence from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study.

Background: As global aging intensifies, older adults with chronic diseases are of increasing concern. Home and community-based services (HCBSs) have been proven to promote self-rated health (SRH) in older adults, but no research explored the associations between the use of overall HCBSs, three different types of HCBSs (health care, daily care, and social support services) and SRH among older adults with chronic diseases. Consequently, this study applies a national publicly available database to examine these associations among older adults with chronic diseases.

Lake Fuxian has the largest reserves of high-quality water resources in China, and understanding its ecological health status is the basis of its environmental protection. Based on a seasonal field investigation of the plankton community, we established a planktonic index of biotic integrity (P-IBI) evaluation system to assess the lake's ecosystem health. The biological integrity of Lake Fuxian was relatively good during winter and spring, but gradually deteriorated from summer to autumn.

However, there have been limited studies on the effects of n-3 PUFAs on somatic and fatigue symptoms in patients with CVDs comorbid MDD.
