Background: Skeletal muscle atrophy in myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is caused by abnormal skeletal muscle satellite cell (SSC) proliferation due to increased glycolysis, which impairs muscle regeneration. In DM1, RNA foci sequester muscleblind-like protein 1 (MBNL1) in the nucleus, inhibiting its role in regulating SSC proliferation. Aerobic training reduces glycolysis and increases SSC proliferation and muscle fiber volume.

From the noise-assisted perspective of stochastic resonance (SR), fractional system has been adopted to enhance the diagnostic performance of mechanical faults by utilizing the previous state information in mechanical degradation process, but the computation is extremely time-consuming. To address this challenge, we develop a fast diagnosis method leveraging the mechanism of generalized SR (GSR)-based active energy conversion in fluctuating-damping fractional oscillator (FDFO). Through the analysis of system stationary response, we propose a theoretical index known as fault feature amplification (FFA), which effectively replaces the time-consuming numerical solution in multi-parameter optimization, leading to a remarkable reduction in the time complexity of the adaptive diagnosis algorithm.

In this study, we introduce a protein-polymer bioconjugate comprising bovine serum albumin (BSA) and a lipid-based thermoresponsive block copolymer. These amphiphilic BSA-polymer conjugates can autonomously be organized into vesicular compartments for codelivery of glucose oxidase (GOx) and doxorubicin (DOX), demonstrating high drug loading content and remarkable antitumor activity via synergistic cancer therapy combining chemo-starvation strategies. Through the incorporation of a hydrophilic BSA block, the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the bioconjugates is tuned to around 40 °C, facilitating their targeted drug delivery to tumor cells.

Coal tar pitch (CTP) has become an ideal choice in the preparation of anode precursors for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) because of its abundant carbon content, competitive pricing and adjustable structure properties. In this paper, sulfurized pitch-based carbon (SPC-800) was obtained by allowing CTP to react with sulfur at 350 °C and subsequently achieve carbonization at 800 °C. SPC-800 was more disordered and had a larger layer spacing than carbonized CTP (PC-800).

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of legumain in metabolic dysfunction, diagnosis, and prognosis in patients with atherosclerosis.

Methods: Plasma levels of legumain from patients with atherosclerosis (n = 320) and healthy controls (n = 320), expression of legumain in atheromatous plaque and secreted from monocyte-derived macrophages were measured using enzyme-linked-immunosorbent assay, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence.

Results: Data demonstrated that atherosclerotic patients had higher plasma level of legumain than healthy controls, which was a diagnostic and prognostic marker and corrected with the degree of atherosclerosis.
