  • This study investigates how genetic variations in alcohol dehydrogenase 2 (ADH2) and aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) affect the risk of esophageal cancer in individuals from Yanting County.
  • The research involved 191 esophageal cancer patients and 198 healthy individuals, using genetic testing and statistical analysis to determine correlations between specific gene forms and cancer risk.
  • Findings showed that carriers of certain ADH2 and ALDH2 gene variants had significantly higher risks of developing esophageal cancer, particularly among those who consume alcohol, highlighting the role of genetics and alcohol consumption in cancer risk.
