Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to assess how well CA125, HE4, ROMA, and CPH-I can differentiate primary ovarian cancer from borderline and benign ovarian tumors while finding optimal cutoff values for each marker.
  • The research included 684 patients and analyzed pre-surgery marker levels, revealing that all tested markers were significantly higher in ovarian cancer cases compared to borderline and benign tumors.
  • Results showed ROMA and CPH-I were better at identifying ovarian cancer than individual markers, particularly HE4, with CA125 being more effective for postmenopausal women.

Background: Five-year survival is an important metric for progress in cancer control broadly used both in the cancer literature and by the public. In order to assess its validity and relation to other common metrics, we analyzed the relationship between 5-year survival, incidence and mortality using publicly available cancer registry data from England and Wales. Methods: Five-year survival, incidence and mortality data were obtained from the online database of a registered charity, Cancer Research UK.
