Despite surging interests on liquid-state coacervates and condensates, confinement within solid-state pores for selective permeation remains an unexplored area. Drawing inspiration from nuclear pore complexes (NPCs), we design and construct coacervate-pore complexes (CPCs) with regulatable permeability. We demonstrate universal CPC formation across 19 coacervate systems and 5 pore types, where capillarity drives the spontaneous imbibition of coacervate droplets into dispersed or interconnected pores.

Interaction between programmed death-1 (PD-1) ligand 1 (PD-L1) on tumor cells and PD-1 on T cells allows tumor cells to evade T cell-mediated immune surveillance. Strategies targeting PD-1/PD-L1 have shown clinical benefits in a variety of cancers. However, limited response rates in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have prompted us to investigate the molecular regulation of PD-L1.

  • Floral patterns in rice are vital for its reproductive success, and the gene SL1 encodes a transcription factor important for flower development, though its mechanisms are not fully understood.
  • The study indicates that SL1 interacts with floral homeotic genes, specifically SPW1 and DL, influencing stamen development and maintaining floral meristem destiny.
  • Evidence shows that SL1 directly binds to and activates SPW1 and FON1, forming a regulatory network crucial for specifying floral organ identities and controlling floral meristem fate in rice.

Considering the challenge in the treatment of severe breast tumor patients, xonotlite nanowire-containing bioactive scaffolds (FeO-CS-GelMA) were fabricated by the 3D-printing technique for the therapy of injured adipose tissue after surgery. Importantly, benefiting from the excellent magnetothermal performance of FeO microspheres, FeO-CS-GelMA scaffolds could effectively kill tumor cells and suppress breast cancer under an alternating magnetic field, and the tumor did not recur in 2 weeks. In addition, attributed to the released bioactive inorganic ions, FeO-CS-GelMA composite scaffolds could effectively promote the expression of adipogenesis-related genes and proteins of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) via the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway .

Background: Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) consists of six components of large/middle/small HBs proteins (L/M/SHBs) with non-glycosylated (ng)- or glycosylated (g)- isomers at sN146 in their shared S domain. g-SHBs plays a crucial role in hepatitis B virus (HBV) secretion. However, the host and viral factors impacting sN146 status in natural HBV infection remain revealed mainly due to the technical difficulty in quantifying g-SHBs and ng-SHBs in serum samples.

Neural-vascular networks are densely distributed through periosteum, cortical bone, and cancellous bone, which is of great significance for bone regeneration and remodeling. Although significant progress has been made in bone tissue engineering, ineffective bone regeneration, and delayed osteointegration still remains an issue due to the ignorance of intrabony nerves and blood vessels. Herein, inspired by space-filling polyhedra with open architectures, polyhedron-like scaffolds with spatial topologies are prepared via 3D-printing technology to mimic the meshwork structure of cancellous bone.
