To date, little is known about what interventions can help individuals attain leadership roles in organizations. To address this knowledge gap, we integrate insights from the communication and leadership literatures to test debate training as a novel intervention for leadership emergence. We propose that debate training can increase individuals' leadership emergence by fostering assertiveness-"an adaptive style of communication in which individuals express their feelings and needs directly, while maintaining respect for others" (American Psychological Association, n.

Photoaging is a major cause of skin ageing. Ultraviolet radiation is a key factor in this process, as it can increase the expression of inflammatory factors, promote an inflammatory response, and disrupt the balance between extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis and degradation, resulting in impaired skin barrier function and increased skin sensitivity. Therefore, anti-inflammation and ECM remodelling are important directions in skin anti-aging research.

While TGF-β3 promoted defect healing in a primate baboon skull defect model and patients, it remains unclear whether TGF-β3 affects the formation of osteoclasts and bone resorption between osteogenesis and osteolysis. Analysis of the full transcriptome of hPDLSCs (human periodontal ligament stem cells) revealed that the expression of RANKL was significantly up-regulated after TGF-β3 treatment during osteogenesis, which suggests its involvement in clock-controlled autophagy in bone metabolism. TRAP staining and bone resorption lacunae were used to assess the osteoclasts formed from RANKL-induced differentiated BMMs.

Utilizing the length gauge and the electron density operator, we calculate the two-photon absorption (2PA) coefficient of FeO based on a full ab initio band structure. The pure two-photon interband transitions and those modulated by intraband transitions have been separated explicitly to determine their impact on the 2PA spectrum. A single main absorption peak instead of two will present in the spectrum by including the hybridization of inter- and intra-band transitions, which can be identified easily in future experimental studies.

Our prior investigations have established that Inonotus obliquus (Chaga) possesses hypoglycemic effects. Persistent hyperglycemia is known to precipitate renal function abnormalities. The functionality of the kidneys is intricately linked to the levels of cyclic guanosine-3',5'-monophosphate (cGMP), which are influenced by the activities of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and phosphodiesterase (PDE).

We report the design and synthesis of a series of proline-derived quinoline formamide compounds as human urate transporter 1 (URAT1) inhibitors via a ligand-based pharmacophore approach. Structure-activity relationship studies reveal that the replacement of the carboxyl group on the polar fragment with trifluoromethanesulfonamide and substituent modification at the 6-position of the quinoline ring greatly improve URAT1 inhibitory activity compared with lesinurad. Compounds 21c, 21e, 24b, 24c, and 23a exhibit potent activities against URAT1 with IC values ranging from 0.
