While bioactive glasses (BaGs) have been studied mainly for bone applications, studies have also shown their potential for soft tissue engineering. Incorporating therapeutic ions, such as lithium (Li), strontium (Sr), and boron (B) into the BaGs, has been found to promote angiogenesis and wound healing. However, a systematic study on the impact of Li, Sr, B, and the other ions in the BaGs, has not been conducted on a wide range of cells.

Background: There is a scarcity of high-quality research on the efficient delivery of inhaled corticosteroids using valved holding chambers (VHCs) in children.
Methods: The delivered dose (DD) of fluticasone from a metered dose inhaler (pMDI) was tested using four VHCs: AeroChamber plus Flow-Vu (AC), Babyhaler (BH), EasyChamber (EC), and Optichamber Diamond (OD). The in vitro setup included an anatomical child throat model, Next Generation Impactor, and a breathing simulator to generate tidal breathing of a four and a 6-year-old child, and adult type single inhalation.
Purpose: We compared the performance of SARC-F, SARC-CalF, calf circumference (CC), and body mass index (BMI)-adjusted CC for sarcopenia case-finding in community-dwelling older adults.
Methods: Data of Finnish participants (women/men n = 192/36, mean age (SD) of 76.9 (4.
Fetal inflammatory response syndrome or infection after preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) increases neonatal morbidity in preterm deliveries. Biochemical markers from the amniotic fluid (AF) have been used to evaluate possible intra-amniotic infection during the asymptomatic phase after PPROM. This study aimed to describe whether soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) or procalcitonin (PCT) from AF or maternal sera could reveal fetal inflammatory response or infection after PPROM.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate how diagnostic practice in congenital ichthyoses has evolved during the years 2000-2020 and what kind of gene variants of congenital ichthyosis have been found.
Methods: The study cohort of this register-based research consisted of a total of 88 patients, whose diagnostic testing was conducted, and ichthyosis diagnoses set at the Department of Dermatology and the Department of Clinical Genetics at Tampere University Hospital during the years 2000-2020.
Results: Diagnosis of ichthyosis was confirmed with genetic testing in 33 cases, and with conventional diagnostic methods, such as clinical findings, skin biopsy and family history of ichthyoses, in 55 cases.
Background: Robotic-assisted laparoscopy has become a widely and increasingly used modality of minimally invasive surgery in the treatment of endometrial cancer. Due to its technical advantages, robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery offers benefits, such as a lower rate of conversions compared to conventional laparoscopy. Yet, data on long-term oncological outcomes after robotic-assisted laparoscopy is scarce and based on retrospective cohort studies only.

Background And Aims: The environmental factors, apart from gluten ingestion predisposing to coeliac disease are poorly known. Smoking is associated with many immune-mediated diseases, but research on coeliac disease is scarce. This study aims to investigate how smoking affects the clinical presentation, presence of comorbidities and response to gluten-free diet in coeliac disease.

We assessed whether total burden of atherosclerosis within cervicocerebral arteries is associated with long-term mortality.
Methods And Results: A total of 406 patients (median age, 71.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine whether the grade of osteoarthritis (OA) is higher with single-bundle (SB) or double-bundle (DB) anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. The hypothesis was that there will be no difference in the grade of OA between the techniques.
Methods: This study was a randomised controlled trial (RCT) with a follow-up period of 15 years.
Objectives: The primary aim was to investigate if frozen embryo transfer (FET) without a corpus luteum increases the risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP). The secondary aim was to investigate other adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of 1168 singleton pregnancies and live births following a FET with either an artificial cycle (AC-FET) (n = 631) or a natural/modified natural/stimulated cycle (CL-FET) (n = 537) between 2012 and 2020.
Introduction: Presence of subclinical intestinal inflammation has repeatedly been shown in IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and the degree of histological inflammation has correlated with abnormal urinary findings. There is lack of noninvasive biomarkers evaluating the presence of subclinical intestinal damage in IgAN. We conducted this study hypothesizing that selected biomarkers regarded as indirect markers of intestinal damage could be elevated in IgAN.
