Metastatic lymph node ratio as a better prognostic tool than the TNM system in colorectal cancer.

The minimum number of lymph nodes that should be evaluated in colon cancer to adequately categorize lymph node status is still controversial. The lymph node ratio (LNR) may be a better prognostic indicator. We studied 1065 patients treated from 1 January 2000 to 31 August 2012.

Microsurgical reconstruction of the maxilla: Algorithm and concepts.

Introduction: The main purpose of this article is to highlight free tissue transfers as the first-choice method for three-dimensional (3D) maxillary reconstruction, particularly in providing enough bone for palate and maxillary arch reconstruction and consequently an implant-retained prosthesis. To achieve this, the myosseous free iliac crest was selected whenever possible as the first choice inside the reconstructive algorithm and free flap armamentarium. A new maxillectomy classification and algorithm reconstruction are proposed.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma of head and neck: apropos of a case.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignant neoplasm, arising from glandular tissues, found mainly in the head and neck. Generally, it presents insidiously but can behave aggressively making its course unpredictable. Surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy continue to be the cornerstone for its treatment.
