Introduction: Scaphoid fractures represent 5-10% of nonunion rate and the treatment options consist of an open reduction with correction of deformity, restoration of the scaphoid length with autologous wedge grafting and fixation. However, there is still no consensus in the literature on the best fixation method. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed from 2014 to 2019.
Data Collected Included: age, gender, ancestry, associated comorbidity presence, phenobarbital, tobacco, and alcohol use, family history of Dupuytren's Disease and associated fibrotic diseases.
Microsurgical toe transfer for thumb reconstruction is a challenging procedure, considering the technical skills necessary to perform it, as well as the difficult postoperative evaluation of esthetical and functional aspects. The present is the report of the case of a 3-year-old child who suffered a traumatic thumb amputation. Thumb reconstruction was performed through microsurgical toe transfer months after replantation failure.

Introduction: Syndactyly has a cosmetic, functional, and psychosocial impact, and surgical treatment is indicated in most cases. This study aimed to retrospectively identify whether patients undergoing surgical release of syndactyly younger than 1 year presented different results compared with those operated older than 1 year.
Methods: Patients were assessed through photographic records by 3 independent specialist surgeons for the quality of scar, presence of web creep, rotational, flexion-extension, and lateral flexion deformities using the Withey score.
Objective: Dupuytren's disease is a genetic disorder related to the proliferation of myofibroblasts. The pluripotent property of stem cells present in adipose tissue inhibits myofibroblast proliferation. Background: The optimal number of veins to be anastomosed in perforator flaps for limb reconstruction and its influence on the results remain controversial. Venous thrombosis of microvascular anastomoses is a commonly recorded complication in soft tissue reconstruction.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of two venous anastomoses in the incidence of venous thrombosis for limb reconstruction using anterolateral thigh (ALT) microsurgical free flaps.
Objective: To evaluate postoperative epidemiological and functional factors in patients operated to treat duplicate thumb.
Methods: This retrospective case series evaluated 20 patients (23 thumbs) treated from January 2012 to December 2016 at our service. Epidemiological and clinical factors were studied, including Tada score.
Objective: To analyze 10 consecutive cases of microsurgical arteriovenous loops created to reconstruct complex injuries from March 2011 to May 2012.
Methods: This observational cohort-type study conducted by the Hand and Microsurgery Group at the HC-FMUSP included patients who were candidates for microsurgical reconstruction as a last alternative to amputation of the limb with proven absence of adequate recipient vessels for primary microsurgical anastomosis, in a prospective and consecutive manner. We analyzed 14 variables (epidemiological, clinical, procedure-related, and outcome) in patients who underwent reconstruction using an arteriovenous loop utilizing a single-stage or two-stage procedure.
Objective: To evaluate the factors that influence the survival rate of replantation and revascularization of the thumb and/or fingers.
Methods: We included fifty cases treated in our department from May 2012 to October 2013 with total or partial finger amputations, which had blood perfusion deficit and underwent vascular anastomosis. The parameters evaluated were: age, gender, comorbidities, trauma, time and type of ischemia, mechanism, the injured area, number of anastomosed vessels and use of vein grafts.

Background: Degloving injuries may be a challenge when it comes to deciding the surgical approach to be used. Repositioning of the flap and suturing are faster and more straightforward, but often these procedures often lead to total or partial loss of the avulsed flap. Pharmacological agents with vascular properties that enhance the viability of the reattached flap could be beneficial to patients with degloving injuries.

Methods: Amputation with preservation of vessels and nerves of the right hind limb was carried out in 140 rats. Groups MG0, MG1, MG2, MG3 and MG4 were submitted to 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours of venous occlusion.

Methods: Twenty-four fresh cadavers were dissected. The following parameters were measured: origin, location, number, and length of the perforating vessels.
Unlabelled: Prolonged tissue ischemia leads to changes in microcirculation and production of oxygen free radicals. The event eventually responsible for tissue death is the no-reflow phenomenon and its management is a challenge for the surgeon dealing with replantation or transplantation. We introduce a model of warm ischemia and reperfusion of the lower limb of rats with which we studied the effect of allopurinol and streptokinase.
