Metal Biomonitoring Through Arboreal Species in Riparian Ecosystems: as a Bioindicator Species.

Water pollution by metals is a global environmental problem. In riparian ecosystems, metal pollution generates adverse effects on organisms and reduces water quality. The Cuautla River is of great ecological relevance and an important water supplier.

Insight into the Corrosion Inhibition Performance of Leaf Extract as a Novel Eco-Friendly Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in 1 M HCl Solution.

In this research, the leaf (PSL) extract was evaluated as a green corrosion inhibitor for the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl using electrochemical measurements and surface characterization. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) spectra showed that the inhibitory activity of the phytochemical compounds enhanced with increasing concentration up to 400 ppm, which was reflected in the increase in the charge transfer resistance and double-layer capacitance. Regarding the effect of immersion time, EIS results indicated that the persistence of the PSL extract was between 4 h and 8 h of exposure time.

Glyphosate resistance and biodegradation by Burkholderia cenocepacia CEIB S5-2.

Glyphosate is a broad spectrum and non-selective herbicide employed to control different weeds in agricultural and urban zones and to facilitate the harvest of various crops. Currently, glyphosate-based formulations are the most employed herbicides in agriculture worldwide. Extensive use of glyphosate has been related to environmental pollution events and adverse effects on non-target organisms, including humans.
