A sensitive biosensor that can be used for the determination of matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) was proposed. The biosensor was developed by using an excellent self-enhanced nanocomposites as an illuminant and a peptide as a recognition element. For the electrostatic attraction between Ru(bpy) and nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs), the self-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (ECL) nanocomposites of NGQDs-Ru(bpy)-doped silica nanoparticles (NGQDs-Ru@SiO) were synthesized through a simple sol-gel process.
