A quality assurance programme for the tissue donation process was launched in Andalusia in 2020 to facilitate the integration of tissue donation into end-of-life care, and to respond to the growing need for human tissue for therapeutic purposes. The results of this programme are presented here. After identifying the hospital departments in which to intensify the detection of tissue donors, expanding training activities and designing a specific data collection system for possible tissue donors who do not donate their tissues, the results of the donation activity were quantified and the causes of non-donation were analysed by applying the critical pathway for deceased tissue donation methodology.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFreehand 3D ultrasound (3D-US) is a promising technique for measuring muscle volume but it requires gel pads or water tanks to limit probe compression on the skin which makes it hard to use in clinical applications. Our objectives were to measure the effect of different compressions on muscle volume in order to assess the clinical applicability of a minimal compression method for lower limb muscles. 4 muscles of the lower limb on 15 healthy volunteers were scanned with a new commercial freehand 3D-US setup accessible to clinical experimentators.

In France, quarantine plasma donation by MSM donors with the same deferral rules as for other donors was introduced in July 2016 and continued up to March 2022. At this time, MSM-specific deferral criteria were lifted for all blood or plasma donation.

Such plasma from convalescent patients may also have additional immune-modulatory properties when transfused to COVID-19 patients.
Methods: CCP (n = 766) was compared to non-convalescent control plasma (n = 166) for soluble inflammatory markers, ex-vivo inflammatory bioactivity on endothelial cells, neutralising auto-Abs to type I IFNs and reported adverse events in the recipients.
Psychiatry of the elderly is a discipline that focuses on the subject as a whole. The interaction of psychiatric, neurological and somatic pathologies impacts the elderly subject on a functional, psychological and social level. Multidisciplinary care is therefore essential to build a complete therapeutic project and to accompany the patient in the plurality of his problems.

Therefore, we reported our experience in the field to identify factors associated with hospital mortality. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of all consecutive patients treated with ECPR for refractory cardiac arrest without return to spontaneous circulation, regardless of cause, at the Caen University Hospital.

Introduction: Termination of pregnancy for maternal reasons (MTOP) are authorized in France without limit of term when "the continuation of the pregnancy puts in serious danger the health of the woman". The literature on the subject is rare and we wanted to make an inventory in our region.
Methods: Retrospective observational study between 2010 and 2019 at the multidisciplinary center for prenatal diagnosis in Western Normandy.

Introduction: Obesity is currently not a medical indication for elective induction of labor although obese patients may not be eligible for expectant management after 41 W G. Few data on labor and complications in this population undergoing prolonged pregnancy are known. The objective of our study was to evaluate labor, mode of delivery, maternal and fetal outcomes in prolonged pregnancy in obese patients compared to normal body mass index (BMI).

A multidisciplinary approach-one based on the collaboration of institutions that, from the perspective of their area of competence, can contribute to reversing this worrying situation-to this problem is essential. It is a priority for local health authorities to take measures that are adapted to the particular situation and regulatory framework of their respective territory.

Methods: Data on the total number of PLT distributions, the collection method, that is apheresis vs whole blood-derived (WBD), the PLT unit characteristics and post-collection modifications were obtained from 12 national or regional blood collectors from 2008 through 2017. Individual WBD PLT units were converted to apheresis equivalent units (i.
The rise of regenerative medicine and the growth of the offer of autologous therapies, obtained from blood, cells or tissues of the patients, have been favoured by the current availability of an increasing number of commercial devices. Most of these devices are easy to use, allowing the elaboration of products and its application within the same procedure. Regardless of the questionable efficacy and safety of many of the treatments offered under the claim of stem cells or regenerative medicine, most of the centres and professionals offering these treatments are unaware of the legal requirements and implications of their use.

Objective: Gestational diabetes and obesity are independent risk factors for obstetric and neonatal complications. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the impact of their association on pregnancy outcomes.
Material And Methods: Monocentric retrospective cohort study including patients with obesity and gestational diabetes (GDM), those with GD without obesity, and those with obesity without GDM, who gave birth between 01 January 2012 and 31 December 2014, and whose GDM was exclusively monitored at our centre.

Objective: Compare obstetrician intervention and calling rates during labour and delivery between low-risk and high-risk women and study the influence of parity on these rates.
Material And Methods: Descriptive retrospective study conducted on 227 patients in a university maternity unit (level 3 university hospital maternity unit) between 1st and 30th January 2014. The low- and high-risk populations were characterised according to the French National Authority for Health (HAS) and NICE guidelines.
Objective: To investigate the chemical composition of a moderately polar extract (CHCl3 soluble part of the MeOH-H2O extract) obtained from the aerial parts (leaves and flowers) of Centaurea diluta Ait. subsp. algeriensis (Coss.

One of the active compounds has been isolated and identified as oleanolic aldehyde coumarate (OALC), a novel bioactive compound that inhibits the formation of P.

Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) of macromolecules in solution is in increasing demand by an ever more diverse research community, both academic and industrial. To better serve user needs, and to allow automated and high-throughput operation, a sample changer (BioSAXS Sample Changer) that is able to perform unattended measurements of up to several hundred samples per day has been developed. The Sample Changer is able to handle and expose sample volumes of down to 5 µl with a measurement/cleaning cycle of under 1 min.

To address these constraints, one solution could be the adoption of approaches from the industry sector. Following the decree of April 6, 2011 on the quality management of the medication use process, some of these approaches, such as risk management, are now part of the everyday work of healthcare professionals.

The HER2 is considered as an important biomarker because its overexpression causes an aggressive type of breast cancer. Nbs are single domain antigen-binding fragments derived from camelid heavy-chain antibodies.

The first crystal structure of a barwin-like protein, named carwin, has been determined at high resolution by single-wavelength anomalous diffraction (SAD) phasing using the six intrinsic S atoms present in the protein. The barwin-like protein was purified from Carica papaya latex and crystallized in the orthorhombic space group P212121. Using in-house Cu Kα X-ray radiation, 16 cumulative diffraction data sets were acquired to increase the signal-to-noise level and thereby the anomalous scattering signal.

The impact of two different moisture content, two particle size and two types of bulking agent on these four parameters was also evaluated. Bulk density and thermal conductivity both increased with depth while FAS and air permeability both decreased with it.
