Breast cancer is the most common cancer type among women worldwide with an average lifetime risk of 12.9%. Early detection and screening are the most important factors for improved prognosis and mammography remains the main screening tool for the average risk patients.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study involving non-menopausal women undergoing diagnostic hysteroscopy at a tertiary clinic. Patients were categorized into two groups based on intracavitary pressure: the standard pressure group (60-100 mmHg; n = 72) and the high-pressure group (110-150 mmHg; n = 37).
Background: Pregnant individuals have faced unique challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, necessitating a closer examination of maternal and fetal health outcomes.
Objectives: Investigate the morbidity and mortality associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection among pregnant individuals, considering vaccination status and variant strains.
Design: Retrospective cohort.
Objective: Transthoracic echocardiography is the gold standard method for screening and confirmation of acute rheumatic fever and subclinical rheumatic heart disease. Secondary antibiotic prophylaxis that is regularly employed in subclinical rheumatic heart disease may help to reverse mild rheumatic carditis lesions, delay the progression of the disease, reduce morbidity and mortality, and improve patients' quality of life.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the outcomes of 180 patients with subclinical rheumatic heart disease who were followed up for a mean of 4.
Background: Our study aimed to investigate the value of inflammatory indices in predicting the latency period until birth in patients with preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM).
Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on PPROM cases between 24 and 34 weeks of gestation at Ankara Etlik City Hospital Perinatology Department from October 2023 to April 2024. A total of 146 participants were divided into two groups: Group 1 included 73 patients who gave birth within 72 hours (h) of PPROM diagnosis, and Group 2 included 73 patients who gave birth after 72 h.
Obesity is a major cause of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and is characterized by inflammation and insulin resistance. Interferon-γ (IFNγ) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine elevated in obesity and modulating macrophage functions. Here, we show that male mice with loss of IFNγ signaling in myeloid cells (Lyz-IFNγR2) are protected from diet-induced insulin resistance despite fatty liver.

Electrode-based stimulation devices face challenges in achieving precise and consistent targeting due to the immune response and the limited penetration of electrical fields. Ultrasound can aid in energy propagation, but transcranial ultrasound stimulation in the deep brain has limited spatial resolution caused by bone and tissue scattering.

However, current phantoms possess limited utility due to their inability to precisely simulate multiple physical properties simultaneously, which is crucial for achieving a system understanding of dynamic human tissues. In this work, novel materials design and fabrication processes to produce various tissue-mimicking materials (TMMs) for skin, adipose, muscle, and soft tissue at a human scale are developed.

The primary research question centered on the reliability and predictive accuracy of objective parameters in determining methotrexate therapy success.
Methods: Conducted as a retrospective single-center cohort study, data from 172 ectopic pregnancy patients treated with methotrexate between January 2021 and January 2023 were analyzed.
Objective: The main aim of this study was to investigate the differences in maternal serum thiol/disulfide homeostasis among women with abortion imminens (AI), missed abortion (MA), and healthy pregnancies during the first trimester.
Materials And Methods: This was a prospective case-control study. This study was conducted on pregnant women who visited the Obstetrics Clinic at University of Health Sciences Turkey, Etlik Zübeyde Hanım Gynecology Training and Research Hospital and were diagnosed with either AI or MA during the 6 to 14 weeks of pregnancy.
Streptozotocin (STZ) is used as a diabetes-inducing agent in experimental animal studies. However, it is known that STZ-induced diabetic animals show significant increases in oxidative stress parameters and neurodegeneration besides their blood glucose level. In this study, the acute and subacute toxic effects of STZ on the liver, sciatic nerve, and brain tissues were investigated rat model.

Euglycemic DKA (EDKA), on the other hand, has been known for many years but is a rare and under-recognized condition and constitutes a very small proportion of DKA cases. However, in recent years, an increase in the incidence of EDKA has been observed with the widespread use of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors, which have proven benefits in the treatment of diabetes mellitus and its cardiorenal complications, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtomic force microscopy (AFM) is an analytical surface characterization tool that reveals the surface topography at a nanometer length scale while probing local chemical, mechanical, and even electronic sample properties. Both contact (performed with a constant deflection of the cantilever probe) and dynamic operation modes (enabled by demodulation of the oscillation signal under tip-sample interaction) can be employed to conduct AFM-based measurements. Although surface topography is accessible regardless of the operation mode, the resolution and the availability of the quantified surface properties depend on the mode of operation.

In recent years, piezoelectric-based conformable ultrasound electronics (cUSE) have been intensively studied due to their unique capabilities, including nonradiative monitoring, soft tissue imaging, deep signal decoding, wireless power transfer, portability, and compatibility. This review provides a comprehensive understanding of cUSE for use in biomedical and healthcare monitoring systems and a summary of their recent advancements.

We introduced a wearable, conformable ultrasound breast patch (cUSBr-Patch) that enables standardized and reproducible image acquisition over the entire breast with less reliance on operator training and applied transducer compression. A nature-inspired honeycomb-shaped patch combined with a phased array is guided by an easy-to-operate tracker that provides for large-area, deep scanning, and multiangle breast imaging capability.

The hair metabolome has been recognized as a valuable source of information in pregnancy research, as it provides stable metabolite information to be able to assist with studying biomarkers or metabolic mechanisms of pregnancy and its complications.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the hair metabolome profile of pregnant women with PE, HELLP syndrome and healthy women.
Background: Omphalocele is associated with many aneuploidies, deletions and congenital anomalies. This study evaluates pregnancies diagnosed with omphalocele and its relevance to concomitant genetic disorders.
Methods: The data of patients with the intrauterine diagnosis of omphalocele who had invasive diagnostic testing performed between January 2017 and January 2020 were evaluated retrospectively.
Increased consumer interest in healthy-looking skin demands a safe and effective method to increase transdermal absorption of innovative therapeutic cosmeceuticals. However, permeation of small-molecule drugs is limited by the innate barrier function of the stratum corneum. Here, a conformable ultrasound patch (cUSP) that enhances transdermal transport of niacinamide by inducing intermediate-frequency sonophoresis in the fluid coupling medium between the patch and the skin is reported.
