Objectives: Cochlear implantation is an increasingly used technique for auditory rehabilitation of pediatric and adult population. Safe implantation is achieved in most cases; however, intraoperative complications and misplacement of the electrode are observed in some. The aim of this presentation was to review the characteristics of patients with extra-cochlear electrode insertion, postoperative diagnostic methods, and considerations in revision surgery.

Purpose: To evaluate the thickness of lamina cribrosa (LC) in both eyes of patients with unilateral central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and to compare with eyes of age-matched healthy control subjects.
Methods: This prospective case-control study included a total of 38 patients with unilateral CRVO and 42 healthy control subjects. The LC thickness was measured at the center of the optic disc using an enhanced depth imaging with the spectral domain optical coherence tomography in both eyes of patients with unilateral CRVO and eyes of healthy control subjects.
Objective: Right ventricular (RV) dysfunction in acute pulmonary embolism (APE) has been associated with increased mortality and morbidity. The aim of the present study was to assess the timing and magnitude of regional RV functions using speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE) and their relationship to early hospital mortality in patients with APE.
Methods: One hundred forty-two patients were prospectively studied at the onset of an acute episode and after a median follow-up period of 30 days.
Purpose: Right ventricular (RV) dysfunction is a common condition that is related to increased adverse outcomes in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE). Our aim was to assess timing and magnitude of regional RV function using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) and to evaluate their relationship to long-term mortality in patients after APE.
Methods: In total, 147 patients were enrolled at the onset of an APE episode and followed for 12 ± 1.
Purpose: To compare retinal and choroidal thickness in patients with Behçet's disease with and without ocular involvement as well as to evaluate the correlation between erythrocyte sedimentation rate and choroidal thickness among patients with Behçet's disease.
Methods: This was a prospective interventional study investigating erythrocyte sedimentation as well as choroidal and retinal thickness among patients with Behçet's disease. Patients who were diagnosed based on The International Criteria for Behçet's Disease with (Group A) or without (Group B) ocular involvement and a matched control group (Group C) participated in the study.
Background: Post-operative hypoparathyroidism is a complication in patients who undergo thyroid surgery. Our study aimed to evaluate the incidence and causes of post-operative transient and permanent hypoparathyroidism in patients undergoing thyroid surgery.
Materials And Methods: The data of 933 consecutive patients who underwent total thyroidectomy in a single center were retrospectively evaluated.
Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the impact of Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) attacks on daily physical activity and detect FMF attacks using a connected activity tracker.
Methods: Patients with FMF according to the Tel-Hashomer criteria were included in this prospective observational study. Attack-related data were collected weekly via phone call to avoid memory bias.
In nocturnal enuresis, motivational therapy, alarm therapy, and drug therapy, such as anticholinergics, imipramine, and sertraline, are the mainstay of treatment. In the present study, we used motivational therapy, oxybutynin, and propranolol in children with primary nocturnal enuresis to determine if propranolol is an effective treatment. Fifty-two children with primary nocturnal enuresis were included in the study.

We aimed to investigate the underlying causes of chronic inflammation in FMF patients and its association with amyloidosis in long-term follow-up. : Electronic medical records of FMF patients who had regular follow-up for ≥ 5 years in our cohort were utilized.

Thus, we aimed to investigate the role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of AA through an evaluation of ischemia-modified albumin (IMA); other markers of the oxidant/antioxidant system, such as SOD, CAT, GSH-ST, and MDA; and contributing clinical risk factors.
Materials And Methods: The usefulness of IMA as a new marker for oxidative stress was compared with that of other markers and evaluated in patients with AA.
Objectives: Takayasu arteritis and Spondyloarthritis are two distinct inflammatory diseases that affect the same age periods. Increasing number of reports on co-incident Takayasu arteritis-spondyloarthritis cases in literature raised the hypotheses about their association. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the incidence of spondyloarthropathy spectrum diseases in Takayasu arteritis patients.

The synthesized compounds and phthalocyanine complexes were characterized spectroscopically. The new phthalonitrile derivative (2) and its peripheral metallophthalocyanine complexes (3-5) were found to be effective inhibitors of α-glycosidase, acetylcholinesterase (AChE), human carbonic anhydrase I and II isoforms (hCA I and II), and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) with K values in the range of 1.

The hip is the most common affected joint followed by knee. Incidence of AVN in rheumatic diseases is variable and high corticosteroid (CS) therapy is a known major risk factor for development of AVN.

Reduced quality of life (QoL) is a feature of chronic diseases but it is also impaired in patients with FMF. Despite the regular use of colchicine at a maximal dose, about 10% of patients do not respond well or resistant to colchicine (crFMF).

Pediatric glioblastoma multiforme is an uncommon and highly mortal brain cancer. New therapeutic treatments are being intensively investigated by researchers in order to extend the survival of patients. The immune checkpoint inhibitor nivolumab in the treatment of pediatric glioblastoma multiforme is currently under review; it is a human immunoglobulin G4 monoclonal antibody that works against the programmed cell death protein 1 receptor, designed to enhance an immunologic reaction against cancer cells.

Fatigue in MS partially refers to a cognitive component, cognitive fatigue (CF), characterized by a faster and stronger than usual development of the subjective feeling of exhaustion that follows sustained cognitive demands. The feeling of CF might result from supplementary task-related brain activity following MS-related demyelination and neurodegeneration.

To evaluate the efficacy of on-demand use of anakinra in patients with crFMF. The Gazi FMF cohort was established in the year 2010, and from that date, 689 patients with FMF diagnosed according to the Tel Hashomer criteria were registered. Attack type, duration, severity, and their impact on life were collected either by disease diaries or a mobile phone application (FMF AIDD, AppStore, and Playstore).
