Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) arising from within the urinary bladder is exceptionally rare. A 45-year-old man having the symptoms of left groin pain, vague suprapubic discomfort and frequency was admitted to our clinic. Pelvic tomography revealed a tumor in the bladder wall measuring 4 x 3 cm and was not clearly distinct from the lower abdominal wall.

Background: The term of acquired perforating dermatosis (APD) comprises the perforating dermatoses occurring in adult patients. Clinical and histological features of the disease are not uniform, and may resemble any of the four classic perforating disorders: elastosis perforans serpiginosa, reactive perforating collagenosis, perforating folliculitis or Kyrle's disease. Chronic renal failure and/or diabetes mellitus usually accompany this skin disease.

Objective: To report an adult male patient with a primary extragonadal giant yolk sac tumor presenting with acute spinal cord compression.
Setting: Faculty of Medicine, University of Dicle, Diyarbakir, Turkey.
Aim: The goal of this study was to investigate the binding characteristics of [(11)C]KR31173 and its applicability for PET studies of the AT(1) receptor (AT(1)R).
Methods: Ex vivo biodistribution and pharmacology were tested in mice. PET imaging was performed in mice, beagle dogs and a baboon.
Background: The aim of this study was to compare the effect of glycaemic control on oxidative stress and biochemical markers of endothelial activation in type 1 diabetic children.
Methods: Serum total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein A1, apolipoprotein B, HbA(1c), MDA, VEGF, NO, ICAM levels were assessed in 100 children with type 1 DM aged 2-17 years. Study cases were evaluated in three groups in view of their mean HbA(1c) values, as metabolically well-controlled (HbA(1c)< or =8%) and poorly controlled (HbA(1c)>8%) patients with DM and 40 healthy children were included as normal controls.
We report 32 biotinidase-deficient patients detected by family studies in the index cases. The study group consisted of 10 mothers, 4 fathers and 18 siblings. There were 17 individuals (3 mothers, 4 fathers and 10 siblings) with profound biotinidase deficiency (BD) (< 10% of mean normal activity) and 15 (7 mothers and 8 siblings) with partial BD (10-30% of mean normal activity).

Materials And Methods: This prospective study was performed between January 2001 and December 2004. It included 405 patients who were at least 50 years old with lower urinary tract symptoms.
Objectives: Presence of the D allele or homozygosity for the deletion (D) allele of the angiotensicen-converting enzyme (ACE) insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism has been discussed as potent risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD) and myocardial infarction (MI). The D allele is associated with higher levels of circulating ACE and therefore may predispose one to cardiovascular damage.
Design And Methods: The study presented here was performed to investigate the association between the ACE genotype and ACE levels.
We compared the diagnostic accuracy of conventional asynchronous teledermatology ('store-and-forward' [SAF]) with a combined technique, in which SAF methodology was used first, followed by a videoconference using low-cost Web cameras. The study involved 228 patients with 242 lesions. For each case, two independent teledermatologists (A and B) evaluated digital images and clinical information by the conventional SAF method and gave a single diagnosis.

The aim of this study is to investigate serum hyaluronic acid (HA), TNF-alpha, IL-8 levels in patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and to assess their potential value as a noninvasive marker for the severity of histopathology.
Methodology: Twenty-eight patients with biopsy-proven NASH, 14 patients with cirrhosis and 15 healthy controls were studied.
We report the results of a pilot study of narrowband ultraviolet B phototherapy for the treatment of 20 patients with uremic pruritus. Ten patients completed the 6-week study period. A total of 8 patients were found to be responders.

Methods: Ninety-eight consecutive male patients who were admitted to our clinic with either AUR or lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) were involved in the study. Patient age ranged from 43 to 88 years (median age 70).
Although the development of arthrosis is rare following shoulder dislocations, it represents a significant problem if it develops after surgery for shoulder instability. The incidence of arthrosis may be decreased by correct diagnosis of the instability and appropriate surgical technique. However, should it occur, shoulder arthroplasty should be considered.

A 21-y-old man applied to hospital with a complaint of erectile dysfunction, which started soon after a gunshot injury. The entry of the bullet was at the middle right gluteal region without any exit hole. A pelvic X-ray revealed the bullet and the scattered particles.

The results of clinical studies addressing MDMA's serotonin neurotoxic potential in humans have been inconclusive. In the present study, 23 abstinent MDMA users and 19 non-MDMA controls underwent quantitative positron emission tomography (PET) studies using [11C]McN5652 and [11C]DASB, first- and second-generation serotonin transporter (SERT) ligands previously validated in baboons for detecting MDMA-induced brain serotonin neurotoxicity.

We report a case of sigmoid colon carcinoma with unilateral kidney metastasis localized only in the renal papillae without obvious metastatic disease.

This article describes a patient who was immunosuppressed with deep dermatophytosis caused by Trichophyton rubrum and concurrent disseminated nocardiosis. The infections occurred 16 years after the patient underwent renal transplantation, and may have been related to tacrolimus therapy.

Strangulation is associated with an increased risk of mortality and morbidity in patients with mechanical bowel obstruction. The accurate and early recognition of the presence of strangulation is important to allow safe nonoperative treatment. A number of studies have shown that there was no single and reliable test to detect or exclude the presence of strangulation.

Presumably because of its potent immunomodulatory activity, the use of IFN-alfa has also led to the development of autoimmune diseases in susceptible individuals. Vitiligo, an autoimmune cutaneous disease, has been reported to occur during IFN-alfa therapy.
