Cryptosporidial enteritis has a rising incidence in the USA, mostly affecting immunocompromised individuals and children. It has a self-limiting course in healthy hosts. Herein, we present a unique case of a healthy middle-aged female who presented with a 1-month history of voluminous watery diarrhea and acute blood loss anemia.

 Intracerebral may carry up to a 70% mortality rate despite advances in surgical resection capabilities and the use of both systemic and intrathecal antifungal treatments.  The authors examined a retrospective case series of two patients with intracerebral infection from the rare, neurotropic fungus and conducted a literature review to evaluate optimal therapies.  At our institution, the patients' cases presented with raised intracranial features of headache, visual field cut, and/or memory loss, with a correspondingly wide variety of radiological differential diagnoses.

The NovoTTF™-100A system is a portable device that delivers intermediate frequency alternating electric fields (TTFields, tumor treating fields) through transducer arrays arranged on the scalp. An ongoing trial is assessing its efficacy for newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and it has been FDA-approved for recurrent GBM.The fields are believed to interfere with formation of the mitotic spindle as well as to affect polar molecules at telophase, thus preventing cell division.

A group of styryl-based neutral compounds has been synthesized in this study for potential use as in vivo imaging agents for beta-amyloid plaques. Of 56 candidates, 14 compounds were found to label beta-amyloid plaques well on Alzheimer's disease (AD) human brain sections in vitro. The binding affinity to beta-amyloid fibrils was then determined by measuring the change in fluorescence intensity.
