Transtibial amputation (TTA) is the removal of the lower leg often resulting in pain, mental health issues, and a more sedentary lifestyle that lacks physical activity (PA). Low balance confidence and other factors related to the physical and psychosocial adaptation to amputation could contribute to why people with TTA actively avoid PA. Studies have investigated lower extremity amputations and barriers to PA in general, but none have focused solely on transtibial amputation and its relationship with PA participation and avoidance habits.

Synergistic Effects of the Combination of Alpelisib (PI3K Inhibitor) and Ribociclib (CDK4/6 Inhibitor) in Preclinical Colorectal Cancer Models.

The CDK4/6 inhibitor Ribociclib has shown limited efficacy as a monotherapy in colorectal cancer (CRC). However, combining Ribociclib with targeted therapies could present a viable strategy for treating CRC. Incidence of avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder in children and adolescents across the UK and Ireland: a BPSU and CAPSS surveillance study.

Objective: We aimed to estimate the incidence of avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) in children and adolescents (CA) presenting to secondary care in the UK and Republic of Ireland (ROI).

Design: This observational surveillance study used the British Paediatric Surveillance Unit and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Surveillance System. Monthly electronic reports were submitted by consultant paediatricians and child and adolescent psychiatrists from 1 March 2021 to 31 March 2022, with outcomes assessed at a 1-year follow-up.

Qualitative study of the feasibility and acceptability of implementation, and potential mechanisms of Learning Together for Mental Health, a whole-school intervention aiming to promote mental health and wellbeing in secondary schools.

Background: Despite high rates of adolescent mental-health problems, there are few effective whole-school interventions to address this. Whole-school interventions offer a feasible and sustainable means of promoting mental health. We previously evaluated the Learning Together (LT) intervention which was effective in preventing bullying (primary outcome), promoting mental well-being, psychological functioning, and reducing substance use (secondary outcomes).

N-Heterocyclic carbenes have proven to be excellent ligands for transition metals, with numerous applications in catalysis and beyond. However, they have also displayed lability with first row transition metals, largely due to the hard-soft mismatch of the metal-carbon bond. Chelation is often considered a suitable methodology for supporting the labile M-C bond through the introduction of a strongly coordinating donor site such as hard phenolates.

Long COVID impacts: the voices and views of diverse Black and Latinx residents in Massachusetts.

Objective: To understand how Long COVID is impacting the health and social conditions of the Black and Latinx communities.

Background: Emerging research on Long COVID has identified three distinct characteristics, including multi-organ damage, persistent symptoms, and post-hospitalization complications. Given Black and Latinx communities experienced significantly higher COVID rates in the first phase of the pandemic they may be disproportionately impacted by Long COVID.

Tailoring C-H amination activity modification of the triazole-derived carbene ligand.

Two new C,O-bidentate chelating triazolylidene-phenolate ligands were synthesized that feature a diisopropylphenyl (dipp) and an adamantyl (Ad) substituent respectively on the triazole scaffold. Subsequent metalation afforded iron(II) complexes [Fe(C^O)] that are active catalysts for the intramolecular C-H amination of organic azides. When compared to the parent complex containing a triazolylidene with a mesityl substituent (Mes) the increased steric bulk led to slightly lower activity (TOF = 23 h 30 h), however selectivity towards pyrrolidine formation increases from 92% up to >99%.

Several risk factors have been associated with these disparities. A systematic review of systematic reviews and meta-analysis was conducted to provide a comprehensive overview of the literature and to determine the field's current position.

Background: Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) is a feeding and eating disorder with known acute and longstanding physical health complications in children and young people (CYP) and commonly presents to paediatricians.

Objective: To systematically review the published literature on physical health complications in CYP with ARFID using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.

Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, PsycINFO and Cochrane Library was performed on 14 February 2024.

Stable CAAC-Triazenes: A New Nitrogen Ligand System With Donor and Conformational Flexibility, and With Application in Olefin Activation Catalysis.

N-heterocyclic imines such as pyridylidene amines impart high catalytic activity when coordinated to a transition metal, largely imposed by their electronic flexibility. Here, this donor flexibility has been applied for the first time to CAAC-based systems through the synthesis of CAAC-triazenes. These new ligands offer a larger π-conjugation that extends from the N-heterocyclic carbene through three nitrogens rather than just one, as observed in N-heterocyclic imines.

Nasogastric tube feeding under physical restraint of children and young people with mental disorders: a comprehensive audit and case series across paediatric wards in England.

Objective: To estimate the number of patients on paediatric wards in England who received nasogastric tube (NGT) feeding under physical restraint from April 2022 to March 2023, identify the demographics and clinical characteristics of these patients, and which personnel facilitated the restraint.

Methods: SPEARHEAD-1 was an open-label, non-randomised, phase 2 trial done across 23 sites in Canada, the USA, and Europe.

Admissions to paediatric medical wards with a primary mental health diagnosis: a systematic review of the literature.

Objective: To systematically review the literature describing children and young people (CYP) admissions to paediatric general wards because of primary mental health (MH) reasons, particularly in MH crisis.

Design: PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, Web of Science and Google Scholar were searched, with no restriction on country or language. We addressed five search questions to inform: trends and/or the number of admissions, the risk factors for adverse care, the experiences of CYP, families/carers and healthcare professionals (HCPs) and the evidence of interventions aimed at improving the care during admissions.

Background: The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-5) describes three primary avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) subtypes including sensory sensitivity, lack of interest in food or eating, and fear of aversive consequences. Studies exploring these subtypes have yielded varying results. We used latent class analysis (LCA) based on the psychopathology of ARFID in a sample of children and adolescents to empirically identify classes.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the prevalence and severity of psychiatric disorders among sexual and gender diverse (SGD) young people was greater than in their heterosexual/cisgender peers. We systematically reviewed literature examining the prevalence, severity, and risk factors for psychiatric disorders among SGD young people aged 25 and under during the pandemic. Four databases (MEDLINE, PsycInfo, Scopus and Web of Science) were searched.
